Dr. Cheema says despite taking Cong help dozen Taksali factions rejected by people
Chandigarh, February 23, 2020: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today described the much hyped public gathering of “Taksalis” as well as dozens of other factions supported by the Congress party at Sangrur as a mega flop show.
In a statement here, SAD spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the Akali rank and file had seen through the so called Taksalis and boycotted their show entirely forcing them to depend upon Congress cadre to save face. “However they failed in this also with the gathering not being a fraction of the massive sea of people which had congregated at the same spot recently on a call given by the SAD”.
Dr Cheema said the various disjointed factions failed to project any vision except trying to spread hatred against the SAD as per the game plan of the Congress party. “It is also questionable as to what leadership they will provide considering that they could not choose a leader amongst their own midst till now “.
The former minister said the leaders including Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Ranjit Singh Brahmpura also did not explain to the people as to why they had betrayed their mother party and become puppets in the hands of the Congress party. He said people were expecting both Mr Dhindsa to give a cogent explanation as to why he had left the SAD after enjoying the spoils of power despite being repeatedly rejected in election after election. He said Mr Dhindsa’s claim that he was working to free the SGPC from the yoke of the SAD also did not wash ice as this was the game plan of the Congress also. “People realise that the these self styled Taksalis are working as per the dictates of the Congress party and are even taking the help of the Congress to hold gatherings. They will never be accepted by Punjabis now”, Dr Cheema added.
