Security threat in garb of mining in Ferozepur, alleged history-sheeter demand independent inquiry
Ferozepur, February 27, 2020: After raising the matter in the Assembly by Parminder Singh Pinky, the alleged history-sheeter - involved in the cross-border smuggling in garb of mining in Ferozepur and having links with the Pakistani smugglers – said by holding a press conference at Press Club, to clarify their position that the charges leveled against them are baseless and demanded an independent inquiry about their involvement from the CBI or any other agency.
He said, we have landed property in village Kamal Wala and some of its parts has been given to the Punjab government Mining Department for mining and employees of Prime Vision Co are working on it. We have been falsely linked with smugglers.
It is pertinent to mention here that due to resentment among the villages of Kamal Wala Muthianwali simmering for some time over the quarry allotted in the Sutlej riverbed and believed to be a front from smuggling heroin, other drugs arms and ammunition from Pakistan, the then DC Chander Gaind, acting on the complaints by some locals – four history sheeters – Kuldeep Singh Billa in jail, Iqbal Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Kewal Singh Fauji of Kamal Wala and Jagga Singh from Bhangu Wala involved in sand mining - had flashed a letter to the Chief Secretary after getting the police report from SSP by holding a secret inquiry, to close down the quarry to contain the flow of drugs from across the border. DC had swiftly taken this action to stop supplies from across the border. Taking cognisance of the serious matter, High Court has summoned SSP Ferozepur in the case of cross-border smuggling of AK47 rifles and contraband taking place in garb of mining in Ferozepur area.
Addressing the media persons, Iqbal Singh said, no doubt the land is ours but the mining contract is with Prime Vision Industries Ltd and we have nothing to do with the same. We are ready to face any inquiry from any agency to prove our links with Pakistan. While Jagga Singh resident of Bhanguwala said, he doesn’t have any land in Kamal Wala village
Moreover, he has already been acquitted in two cases during October and November 2019 and only one case is pending at Arifke Police Station. No case is pending against his brothers Sukhwinder Singh Block Samiti Member and Kewal Singh retired from the Army. The false cases have been shown against our three brothers, said Iqbal Singh.
Iqbal Singh said, there is a political rivalry as we belong to Akalis and we are being pressurized to join the Congress but we want that the quarry work should run legally by the Primevision Co. However, we are being threatened with dire consequences.
We have floated our complaint at various quarters and demand for taking action to hold an independent inquiry from any agency, to bring the real culprits on the surface.
