Chandigarh, February 28, 2020: Bir Devinder Singh, former Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, and Senior Vice President SAD (Taksali) said that the Budget presented by Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal today in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, outwardly appears to be balanced and well orchestrated but in reality it manifests the sharp inbuilt contradictions and bare fiscal emptiness.
“Despite downward economic spiral, unprecedented debt and acute fiscal abnormalities, the Budget narration by Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal was certainly brilliant; but too much sycophancy of the ‘Ideal cum Idle’ Chief Minister, not only eclipsed the magnificence of the occasion , it was terrifically sounding discomfited and was exceedingly awkward,” said Bir Devinder.
“He failed to spell out his vision; as to how the unprecedented debt to the tune of Rs. 2,48,000 Crore the State’s fiscal apparatus would counterbalance in future ? There was also no roadmap spelled out for the marketing and storage of diversified farms produce. He also grossly failed to unfold the government’s policy, to effectively check the unabated exodus of the youth from Punjab to foreign countries in search of gainful employment,” Bir Devinder added.
