Chandigarh, March 12, 2020: The management of Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Renton, which is a city in King County, Washington state, has decided to close the gurdwara on Saturday and Sunday after the state government banned gatherings of 250 or more people due to coronavirus outbreak.
Here is a statement issued by the management on Facebook: “The state government of Washington has decided to ban gatherings of 250 or more for king, pierce and Snohomish counties effective today. To obey this law, the Management Committee has decided to close the Gurudwara Sahib on Saturday and Sunday. The Gurudwara Sahib will stay open Monday to Friday. These steps are taken for the safety of the Sangat. We want our Sangat to stay safe from this horrible disease. Also, the Kirtan programs will be available for Sangat to view on the Gurudwara Sahib's You Tube Channel. We apologize if this decision hurts anyone, but we feel this is for the betterment of the Sangat.”
