Chandigarh, March 12, 2020: Mir Shakilur Rahman, Editor-in-Chief, Jang Group, was arrested in Lahore on Thursday by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case relating to the purchase of a 54-kanal piece of land, according to a report in Dawn.
This was his second appearance before NAB and when he was not able to give satisfactory answers to questions put to him, he was arrested.
The land in question was leased to him by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1986.
It is alleged that Sharif, who was then Punjab chief minister, allotted the land to him in violation of relevant laws and rules.
On March 5, Rahman told NAB that he purchased the land from a private owner.
On Friday, Rahman will be produced in an accountability court.
