Moga: Sarpanchs and Councillors to report daily on arrival of outsiders
Moga, March 17, 2020: In view of Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19), Deputy Commissioner (Additional Charge) Kumar Saurabh Raj today held a meeting at his office to review the arrangements and the current situation in the district. The meeting was also attended by the Municipal Commissioner-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mrs Anita Darshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Mr Subhash Chandra, S. P. (H) Mr Ratan Singh Brar, SDM Mr Satwant Singh and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) to interact with the Sarpanchs and Councillors to make ensure that they share the details of foreigners and strangers coming into their jurisdiction at 5 pm on a daily basis. He said that if there is no such person in their area, they should also send a NIL report daily in this regard. If such person is found, the civil surgeon will send a departmental team immediately and make sure that such persons are examined and necessary action is taken.
He directed the Civil Surgeon to initiate the process for making all the Jan Aushadi Kendras in the district fully operational so that the maximum number of people could be provided with medicines.
DC said that in order to improve the coordination between the people and the officers of different departments, it was important that the district heads of all the departments and the employees of all the departments should share their contact details with each other. “Everyone should be aware of their duty if any crisis arises,” he said.
Similarly, the District Town Planner and Municipal Town Planner were instructed to prepare maps of the entire district Moga so that it could help in case anyone is not aware of any places in any unforeseen situation. The District Food and Supply Controller was instructed to store food and other necessary items in sufficient quantities in advance to cope with any emergency like situation and a plan to dispatch them in the affected areas if needed. The layout plan should also be prepared.
DC said that if symptoms are found in a person, they can also be 'isolated' in their respective homes. He said that no special medication is needed to treat the COVID 19. He informed that the patients can be cured easily by staying in their homes in isolation for 14 or more days. He directed the police not to arrest anyone if they fail to cooperate in getting their medical tests done, but if any such “suspected” case is found, then they should initiate the process of 'isolating' by conducting thorough investigation in assistance with the Health Department. He appealed to the people to ensure that they follow the health advisories issued by the Punjab Government and the Department of Health so that any untoward situation can be avoided.
He said that anyone with any signs and symptoms (cough, fever or difficulty breathing) can call the state helpline number 104.
He appealed to the people that the disease is curable and there is no need to panic. He also urged people to be wary of misleading propaganda on social media. Even if such a case occurs in the district Moga in the future, the district administration has made adequate arrangements for it.
Orders to close the coaching centres till March 31:
District Magistrate Mr Kumar Saurabh Raj while exercising his powers as per the notification issued by the Punjab Government where all the coaching centres ( IELTS centre, tuition centre, dance and other centres) operating in district Moga. Orders will remain in force till March 31, 2020. He said that the decision to close these centres was taken as a precautionary measure.
