Government fixes mask and hand sanitizer prices
Ferozepur, March 2, 2020: In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the government has fixed the price of protective masks and hand sanitizers, which will be a safeguard against the undue price hike of these products, said Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Kulwant Singh.
Divulging more, the deputy commissioner said that the shopkeepers violating these norms have to face strict action from the district administration.
Directing the concerned officials to implement the government orders, the Deputy Commissioner said that to regulate the prices of masks and sanitizers the Central government has by powers conferred by sub-section 2A and section 3 A of the Essential Commodities Act 1955 has fixed the prices of these goods. A notification to this effect has been issued by Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
According to the orders, the retail price of 2 ply mask would not be more than Rs 8 per piece and Rs. 10 for 3 ply masks. Likewise, the retail price of hand sanitizers would not be more than Rs.100 per bottle of 200 ml, he added. DC said the prices of other quantities of hand sanitizers would be fixed in the proportion of these prices. He further added that the severest of severe action would be taken against any shopkeeper found violating the orders of the government.
