Ferozepur: 702 people returned from foreign countries, 511 identified, no Coronavirus positive case so far
Ferozepur, March 22, 2020: More than 700 people have returned from foreign in Ferozepur, out of which 502 have been identified and rest will also be spotted by late night today. Presently, there is not even a single positive case of coronavirus in Ferozepur, said DC Kulwant Singh.
In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur ordered for the complete shutdown of all establishments in the revenue limits till March 31, 2020, except the institutions providing essential services/items.
DC has also separately asked the devotees who attended Holla Mohalla to come forward for testing. Earlier also an appeal was made that anyone returning from foreign must report for testing with the health department.
As per the latest information received from the government, 702 persons have returned to Ferozepur district from foreign lands, out of which 511 have been identified and rest will also be tracked tonight, said DC
In the meantime, the health officials are on the job first to advise the foreign returns to restrict their movement to prevent the spread of disease. As a precautionary measure, all such foreign persons will be first quarantined in their homes. However, the medical teams will be testing them for coronavirus to take further preventive measures in the event of any positive case.
Keeping in view the pandemic of Corona Virus, the district administration Ferozepur has decided to enforce a lockdown of all establishments for restriction of movement and gathering in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner no one would be allowed to loiter and severest of severe action would be taken against them adding he said that the committees of the civil and Police officers have been constituted to enforce this effectively. The movement of vehicles in, outside and within the city would be restricted to emergency vehicles; added Kulwant Singh. He said that the movement would be restricted in Ferozepur as per the powers vested through the Epidemic Act.
Deputy Commissioner solicited the support of people of Ferozepur to contain this virus from the further spread and exhorted them to stay inside their homes and avoiding outside movement until further orders. He said that with the collective efforts of all sides we can win over the situation.
