One booked for violating Curfew orders, DC, SSP appeal to maintain self-isolation
Ferozepur, March 27, 2020:: The Ferozepur police have booked two persons for allegedly violating the curfew orders issued by the district magistrate under orders of state government. Earlier also, two persons booked at Kulgarhi Police stations on March 26.
During the patrolling by the police team headed by Harbans Singh, SI, one person identified as Baljinder Singh of Mamdot was moving on the road fearlessly near village Bhure Kalan, violating the imposition of Section 144 in the wake of pandemic coronavirus. On asking, they could not give a satisfactory reply.
A case under section 188 (disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant) of the IPC, has been registered at Mamdot police station, said Harbans Singh IO in this case.
The district administration has requested citizens to maintain self-isolation to fight with pandemic coronavirus by following the lockdown/curfew orders. DC and SSP said self-isolation is an effective precautionary measure to protect those around you and spread of COVID-19.
In this backdrop, there are various penal provisions that may be invoked against an individual seen to violate state orders. Local Police can book individuals as under, for those who do not comply with the law / regulatory orders related to curbing COVID-19.
1. Sec 188 IPC:* Violation of order promulgated by Govt. *Cognizable, Bailable.*
2. Sec.269 IPC* Negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous.
