MCs, Nagar Panchayats and Gram Panchayat authorized to spend funds from their income to help distressed people: DC
Ferozepur, March 28, 2020: Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Kulwant Singh has said that on the directive of state government the Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Gram Panchayats have been authorized to use their funds and incomes to cater the needy people and weaker sections of the society.
Divulging more, the deputy commissioner said that the state government has enabled all class one MCs to spend Rs. 25,000 per day and a maximum amount of Rs. 5 Lac during the whole lockdown and curfew period whereas class B and C MCs are now authorized to spend a sum of Rs. 15,000 per day and maximum of Rs. 2.50 Lac during the whole period. The deputy commissioner added that similarly, the gram Panchayats can spend Rs. 5000 per day maximum amount of Rs. 50000 during the whole lockdown period to help people with Ration and other daily needs.
He said that during curfew-like circumstances some people rely on their daily wages i.e. Rickshaw puller, daily wagers, construction workers and other laborers have to face a lot of difficulties to meet their family needs adding he said that the state government has authorized all the MCs and Panchayats to help such people by spending money from their funds.
DC exhorted all the MCs and Panchayats to immediately follow the orders issued by the state government to provide relief to the needy and poor people in the urban and rural areas so that they can be strengthened during this lockdown period. The deputy commissioner asked Deputy Director Local Bodies department, ADC (development) and Panchayat development department to ensure the implementation of the guidelines issued by the state government.
