Fatehgarh Sahib. March.31, 2020: Ashoka Educational Trust and management society Sirhind, the oldest and reputed trust of the district managing, schools, college and Dharmshala with the support of Bharat Vikas Parishad Sirhind has started serving langer to the needy both the times. The district administration has allocated the area to the Trust for serving the langer. Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA Fatehgarh Sahib inaugurated the process of preparing and packing the langer. Subhash Sood, President, Rajiv Dutta former President and Vijay Verma member donated handsome amount immediately and many other prominent persons Anil Verma, Ashwani Garg CA, Dr. Hitender Suri, Iqbal Singh Tiwana PA to Simranjit Singh Mann and others from the area came forward to extend helping hand and appreciated the efforts of the trust.
Subhash Sood President of Ashoka Educational Trust said that the langer will continue till the situation eases out and every needy will be served packed food both the times in the area allocated by SDM Fatehgarh Sahib Dr. Sanjeev Kumar. He said that packed food containing four chapattis and vegetable will be served at the door steps of needy. He said that rising to the need of the hour and responding to the appeals made by the PM, CM and DC, that society should come forward to ensure that no one sleeps empty stomach, on humanitarian ground the trust decided to serve the needy people in the hour of crisis and decided to start serving food.
Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA appreciated the efforts of the trust and Bharat Vikas Parishad and said that the NGOs have always played a significant role whenever the society faced the crisis. He said it is a time of great disaster as dreaded disease have struck the entire world and the situation has come to such a point that after lock down the curfew has to be imposed. He said though Capt. Amrinder Singh CM and his team of officers is working over night for the people of State, but without the co-operation of NGOs and social organisations nothing concrete can be achieved. He assured the Trust of every possible help in future. He appealed to people to follow the instructions of the district administration and to remain inside their home and to maintain social distancing. He appealed to all those organisations who are serving food to the people to get register with district administration, so that food may be distributed in planned manner.
Paramjeet Kaur Sidhu District Education Officer appreciated the efforts of the Trust and said it is a unique example that a trust providing education has initiated this noble cause. She said as the students of the educational institutions of the trust always remain on fore front, the management has also took the lead in serving the society.
Amrit Kaur Gill Deputy Commissioner, Amneet Kondal SSP and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar SDM Fatehgarh Sahib have lauded the efforts of the trust in helping the district administration in the hour of crisis.
