Ludhiana, April 3, 2020: Amid curfew, the pensioners in Ludhiana district will get their pensions sitting at their homes.
The district administration has decided that the beneficiaries associated with the Social Security Department, Punjab would receive pensions to be distributed by the bank representatives, postal department officials and aanganwari workers.
Deputy Commissioner, Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that the total pension amount for 2,15,013 beneficiaries of district Ludhiana is Rs 32,87,82,000 (for month of January & February 2020). This amount was deposited in the bank accounts of all beneficiaries on March 23, 2020.
Though several beneficiaries had withdrawn their pensions from the banks, yet a large number of beneficiaries were not able to do so due to curfew/lockdown.
The officials of India Post Payment Bank would distribute pension in Dehlon, Pakhowal, Sadhar, Raikot and Samrala blocks along with urban areas of the district.. In rural areas, this work would be done by Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) supported by the Aanganwari workers..
Only those beneficiaries would get pensions at homes, who have not yet withdrawn it from banks.The usual system of pensions would be followed once the curfew/lockdown is over, he clarified.
