Mayank Foundation distribute food items to the needy amidst lockdown
Ferozepur, April 4, 2020: Amidst the ongoing lockdown to underline India’s fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, when people are confined to their homes, the members of Mayank Foundation Ferozepur, are making all-out efforts to ensure supply of food and rations to the people belonging to the lower economic class.
The foundation is working in tandem with the district administration and thus far has supplied around 1200 packets of rations to the needy families. Besides five kg wheat, the supplied material also comprised rice, salt, lentils and peas measuring two kg each, 2 soaps and two packs of biscuits, which have been delivered home to home by the team of the organization.
Speaking on the occasion, Anirudh Gupta, President of the foundation said, “It is a testing time for the nation. The key to success in our battle against coronavirus is to stay home. So, we are providing all the essential eatables to the needy so that they stay home without having to worry about food”. In consultation with the officials of district administration, we have made access to the slums and localities of poor people to distribute food items at their doorsteps, he further added.
While Secretary Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Gazalpreet Singh informed that the assigned areas where food items were delivered were Rakhri Road and slum dwellers living near the railway station. We are also reaching out to the migrant workers and daily wagers and trying to sort out their various problems being faced by them during the lockdown. Another active member Tanjit Bedi and Deepak Grover said that many local people are coming forward to help the foundation in its endeavour to help the needy people during these sensitive times.
Deepak Sharma, one of the founding members of the foundation while expressing his inner joy in accomplishing a noble task of providing food to the needy, informed that a community kitchen has been set up at Grand Hotel after a meeting with Shri Neel Kanth Mahadev Sewa Rotary Club on April 2. One thousand needy persons will be provided food on daily- basis now. President of Rotary Club Ferozepur Cantt Baldev Saluja, Rimpi Aroara, Sanjiv Gauri Mehta of Join Hand for Humanity Society, Aksh Kumar, Davinder Nath, Gurjit Sodhi, Charanjit Singh, Munish Punj, Nanni Handa, Tarsem Kumar, Deepak Gupta, Sumit Galhotra, Akshay Khunger, Asim Aggarwal, Sweden Arora, Patwari Anil Sharma, Rahul Arora and Kamal Sharma were also present during the occasion.
