People should understand their social responsibility by not discriminating COVID-19 victim: DC
COVID-19: On DC’s appeal, youth group come forward for cremation of positive coronavirus patients
Ferozepur, April 6, 2020: On appeal from Deputy Commissioner, Kulwant Singh, with fear raging that COVID-19 could spread and attack those handling dead bodies, some social organizations have come forward, to extend cooperation for the cremation of corona virus-positive patients.
DC said, so far there is no positive case of coronavirus in the district and all precautions are being taken at all levels to win over the battle against coronavirus.
Despite the people furious over the spread of the virus while handling dead bodies, today, Sarpanch Panwinder Singh Sandhu alias Mani and Gurnam Singh Tibbi of Shaheed-e-Vatan Youth Organization and Green Field Resort had a meeting with the DC saying that in such cases, our organization will not only cooperate but also provide the land if need be.
They said the fear of coronavirus has exposed the nature of humanity when people have refused to allow the cremation of virus affected patients.
The issue has cropped up when the cremation of Bai Nirmal Singh Khalsa at Verka and one suspected patient in Ferozepur, who later on tested negative, was denied.
Appreciating the emotions of the youths, DC said, in this hour of need, we all must stand united to win a fight against the coronavirus.
He said, no scientific proof has come on the surface so far that virus is spread with the cremation of coronavirus patient rather against this, it has been established that it would be better to cremate the positive patient as early as possible.
He added the denying of the cremation of the body is against the spirit of humanity and communal brotherhood; the people should understand their social responsibility and should not discriminate the COVID-19 victim and interfere for cremation, in the event of the death of any patient.
