Patiala, April 7, 2020: Bir Devinder Singh, Senior Vice President, SAD (Taksali), says his party opposes an all party meeting, which is being demanded by Sukhbir Singh Badal President of the SAD (Badal).
“Taksalis are of the considered view that there seems to be no need for convening the all party meeting in a given situation when the entire state machinery and its craft is engaged in fighting the dreaded Corona Virus. Moreover, accept an opportunity for optics; it would not be a result-oriented exercise. Then why to waste time and resources in a futile exercise,” said Bir Devinder.
“Sukhbir Singh Badal should be knowing that even the recent meeting of the Punjab Cabinet was conducted by video-conferencing then where is the compelling need to collect so many people at one place to discuss the current situation. If he has something very meaningful in his mind, which he wishes to communicate to the Government of Punjab he could do so through other means of communication available with him; either by using the internet facility or by phone.”
“And if he wishes to communicate something quite palpable to the central Government, in order to handle the consequential repercussion of Covid-19 in India, then he should better, confer with his wife Harsimrat Kaur, who happens to be a member of the Union council of ministers at the center,” said Bir Devinder.
“Badal must bear in mind that the State is passing through unprecedented crisis of trying times and there is no place for hollow intrigues of politics,” he added.
