Mohali, April 9, 2020: Six more cases of coronavirus have come to light after results of pending samples were declared late on Wednesday, according to Girish Dayalan, DC, SAS Nagar. All six are from village Jawaharpur, Derabassi, which has become the coronavirus hotbed in the district.
With this, the total numbers of positive cases in the district have shot up to 36.
“Let me reiterate, this is because we have been doing extensive sampling - not just quarantine. For each positive contact, we've been tracing and testing 25-55 people. We aren't hiding behind numbers,” said Dayalan.
“For Jawaharpur alone we've done 142 samples following contacts. Total samples taken in district are 629 as of today (Wednesday),” he added.
“We are fighting the invisible enemy and winning against the disease by making it visible through extensive testing. There is no need for panic but I will stress the need for taking all precautions as mandated by the Government,” the DC said.
