Selling of Sanitizers on more than fixed price : District admn initiates strict action

Barnala, April 10, 2020 : The district administration has taken strict measures to curb black marketing of essential commodities. District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Tej Partap Singh Phoolka received a complaint against a shopkeeper for selling sanitizers at higher price in the city. Deputy Commissioner ordered immediate checking after which Rs 10,000 fine has been imposed to concerned shopkeeper.
A team led by Tehsildar Barnala Gurmukh Singh, Assistant Food Supply Officer Pardeep Kumar, Food Supply Inspector Preet Mahinder Singh, Legal Metrology Inspector Balkar Singh conducted sudden checking and caught store owner (CM Pyare Lal) was selling sanitizer at higher price, which was more than Gazette notification of the Government. Thereafter, under the Legal Metrology Act 2009, the concerned shopkeeper was fined Rs. 10,000. Deputy Commissioner Phoolka said that the loot of consumers and the hoarding of essential goods would not be tolerated at any cost.
