Chandigarh, May 5, 2016: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) severely castigated the recent decision of the Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led government in which it has decided to teach a practical subject as 6th subject in place of Punjabi in the schools falling under its jurisdiction.

In a statement issued here today, SAD Secretary General and Rajya Sabha MP, S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said that Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal is meting out step motherly treatment to the Punjabi, Urdu and Sanskrit languages and creating a stifling atmosphere for regional languages. He further said that this whimsical decision on the part of Delhi Government calls for severe condemnation.

Taking Delhi Government to task, the SAD leader said that the young children are being segregated from their own mother tongue Punjabi with this autocratic step. Divulging more, he said that this utterly dastardly decision would also snatch away the employment avenues for the teachers of Punjabi, Urdu and Sanskrit languages. He also elaborated that though kejriwal feels difficulty in conversing in Punjabi and has always lectured in hindi but he has dealt a severe blow to the sentiments of Punjabi speakers.

The SAD leader also said that Punjabi is the not the language of Sikhs alone but it is the common language of Both Indian and Pakistani Punjab’s. He cautioned that no step motherly treatment would be allowed with this language. He further said that the Punjabi community has worked tirelessly for promoting the language in foreign countries so how can they tolerate the dictatorial order with regard to this language on their own land.

Disclosing more, S. Dhindsa said that this step is a part of narrow-mindedness of kejriwal which has amply proved that this double speaking man having an eye on capturing power in Punjab, would also discriminate against Punjabi language in Punjab the trailer of which has been exhibited in Delhi. He said that kejriwal is trying to uproot Punjabi community culturally with this despicable decision. He warned that Kejriwal should take back its autocratic decision failing which he would have to face the wrath of Punjabi community worldwide. -GP....

Says Amarinder never took up any farmer issue in parliament

Says PCC president played a fraud on NRIs by going to North America on tourist visa

Chandigarh, May 5, 2016: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said it was good that Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh had realized how “popular” he was in North America following the abysmal failure of his foreign jaunt even as it asked him not to indulge in cheap photo opportunities with farmers in the US when he had no time for farmers in Punjab.

“You have posted a picture of a visit to an almond farm in Fresno. Please tell us when you last visited a farm in Punjab. Do you or your media managers have any such picture?” SAD general secretary and party spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema asked Amarinder.

The akali leader said the truth of the matter was that forget visiting any farm or farmer in Punjab since years, Amarinder had never even taken up any farmer issue in parliament despite being a Lok Sabha mp since two years. “You would well remember what you did for the farming community as chief minister. You withdrew the free power facility extended to them by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. You did nothing to help farmers from being exploited at the hands of money lenders. But now when you are salivating to capture power in Punjab you have suddenly remembered Punjab farmers and even descended to the fields of farmers in the US”.

Stating that the Punjabi community would see through this hypocrisy, Dr Cheema said NRIs abroad knew that it was chief minister Parkash Singh Badal who had introduced the free power facility for farmers. It is the SAD-BJP government which has come out with an indebtness bill which will stop exploitation of farmers at the hands of money lenders. It has also come out with a pension plan for farmers besides disbursing 1.25 lakh tubewell connections. “We have taken concrete steps to improve the well being of farmers and encouraged diversification which has given good results. Leading newspapers have recently highlighted the success stories of diversification of Punjabi farmers be it growing of exotic fruits, vegetables and flowers or piggeries, fisheries and a host of other allied activities. You could have gone to these farmers and praised them for their efforts instead of deriding Punjabi farmers through statements after visiting a farm abroad”, Dr Cheema added.

Stating that Amarinder was not only anti-farmer but also anti employment, the akali leader said Amarinder wanted to take over all village shamlat land and gift it to industrial houses besides freezing all employment. He said how could such a person give sermons on governance. First prove what governance you did as a chief minister except for bestowing clean chits on favourites who broke the law at will and then try to give sermons to us”, he added.

Dr Cheema also pointed out that Amarinder had played a big fraud on his party as well as NRIs by misleading them about the nature of his trip. “You took a tourist visa but told people you would address political gatherings. Isn’t this tantamount to committing a fraud? Your party knows why you went abroad and also with whom you spent most of your time. However you owe an apology to the NRI community for misleading them that you are going to meet them when actually you had planned a secret holiday with friends to the exclusion of even your family”, the SAD leader added. -GP....

The movie is a product of Kailey’s lifetime efforts and offers an out-of-the-box idea rather than being a boring romantic production. “This movie also happens to be my debut in film making. I always wanted to make a mark in the film industry and this is just the beginning. Next on the cards is a Hindi movie”, says Kailey confidently who is sure Killer Punjabiwill make an impact not just in Punjab but also among the NRI community, since he himself is an NRI and the movie happens to be a depiction of harsh realities in life.
The story writer of the movie is Ravinder Singh and the music has been given by Aslam Keyi and Arvind Kumar while songs have been sung by Kamal Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Harshdeep Kaur, Shipra Goel, Kalpana Patowary and Abhilasha. -GP

Chandigarh, May 5, 2016: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh has taken strong exception to the malicious propaganda being spread and circulated by the anti-India forces and fringe groups like the Sikhs for Justice and appealed to the media to verify and cross check the facts before publishing these, lest the truth becomes casualty.
Reacting to the media reports that he was allegedly heckled and shoes, stones and bottles were hurled at him during a function at Fresno in California on Tuesday, Capt Amarinder said, “nothing can be far from the truth than such baseless claims”. He regretted that the media took cognisance of the claims of SFJ without verifying and cross checking the facts.
“Even the video circulated by the SFJ to substantiate its baseless claims nowhere shows that I was heckled or objects were thrown at me”, he pointed out, while appealing, “at least take note of the credibility and motives of the person who circulated these rumours”.
Capt Amarinder also appealed to the media organisations to ensure that facts are carefully verified lest the truth becomes the casualty. “Is it enough for you to go ahead with a story, just because Gurpatwant Singh Pannu says that shoes were hurled at me, without verifying and cross checking the facts?” he asked, while adding, “particularly in this case cross checking the facts was not very difficult as the video Pannu had circulated was self explanatory”.
He said, the rumour of hurling of shoes was deliberately spread to overshadow the successful meetings he has been holding with Punjabi NRI community in the US. “Isn’t it strange that the media took note of the pro-Khalistan slogans raised by a handful people outside the venue, but totally ignored the meeting inside which was attended by about a 1000 people and lasted for three hours?” he asked.
The PCC president said, the protestors were raising ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ slogans and they were chased out by his supporters and at no stage did they throw any object at him or his car. “Not that it would have mattered or made any difference had they thrown anything, but the motive behind spreading this rumour, which unfortunately some newspapers turned into a ‘factual story’, was to overshadow our meetings and programmes”, he regretted.
The former Chief Minister said, he was saddened that a dozen odd anti-India people raising slogans outside the meeting venue were given precedence over about a thousand people who had gathered inside the venue and were interacting with him and discussing the ways and means to revive Punjab’s economy and agriculture.
“Just because someone like Pannu, whose reputation, credibility, motives and intentions are quite well known to everyone, claimed something which was far from the truth, was taken to be gospel truth without any cross check or verification”, the former Chief Minister remarked, while regretting, in the process Pannu has taken everybody for a ride and truth has become a casualty.
At the same time, Capt Amarinder added, he has been flooded with the messages of support and appreciation from the Punjabis living in Punjab and abroad, personally and through social media, for the stand he has taken on issues like Operation Bluestar, police raid on Darbar Sahab during Barnala government and saving Punjab’s waters. -GP....

New Delhi, May 5, 2016: President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented the 15th Set of FIEO “Niryat Shree” and “Niryat Bandhu” Awards to companies from various sectors of exports besides service providers, banks, various facilitating agencies promoting exports during the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) here at New Delhi on 4th of May, 2016. During the function, he also unveiled the brand new FIEO Logo representing growth, vibrancy, innovation and entrepreneurship.

During his keynote address President of India said that the global economic slowdown - by bringing down global demand – has affected India’s exports. It is a matter of some concern that our exports have been continuously decreasing since December 2014. Indian merchandise exports, recorded at US Dollar 261 billion in 2015-16, constitute a decline of over 15 percent. The Indian service exports were comparatively better, perhaps because of a recovery in our traditional export markets such as the USA, President said. While the export sector remained bleak, there was some comfort brought about by the falling commodity prices globally. With a dwindling import bill, it resulted in a healthy current account deficit of 1.4 percent of GDP in the first three quarters of 2015-16. Yet, we must be concerned with the volume of trade taking place as falling trade levels impact on the economy, industrial growth and employment levels. The volume of world trade is expected to remain sluggish in 2016, growing at 2.8 percent. Shri Pranab Mukherjee also added that in a scenario such as this, we need to devise cohesive strategies of retaining our market share first and then increasing it. In this context, the Government through its Foreign Trade Policy has initiated a number of measures to promote exports of goods and services.

Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry (Independent Charge), Commerce Secretary, Smt Rita Teaotia and DGFT Shri Anup Wadhawan were the Guests of Honour at the ceremony. A Coffee Table Book was released at the function by Hon’ble Commerce and Industry Minister, who presented the first copy of the book to the Hon’ble President of India. In her address, the Commerce and Industry Minister said that the fall in export growth was tapering and better export performance was expected in the coming months. The Minister said Indian exporters needed to work on improving the standards of their products, and integrate with the global value chain for better performance. She also complimented the Federation on completing its 50 years.

Congratulating the Federation, member exporters and awardees, the Commerce Secretary Ms Rita Teaotia, during her address at the function said that services exports should also be emphasized by the FIEO apart from goods and merchandise exports.

Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) was set up in 1965 has completed 50 years of its service to the exporting community. The Federation started with a small room in Allahabad Bank building moved to its state of art building at Niryat Bhawan, New Delhi. FIEO added 17 more offices and its membership grew from 131 to over 22000 in 2015-16 recording a compound annual growth rate of 10.8% over 50 years base.

Mr S.C.Ralhan, President, FIEO said that the organisation is constantly innovating, upgrading and value adding its services to exceed the expectation of its members and serve the nation. FIEO has extended its arms to support the State Governments through formulation of Export Strategy and Export Policy. The Trade Portal developed by FIEO has provided single window information on all facets of international trade for Indian Exim community. FIEO has played a stellar role in handholding of small entrepreneurs through its workshops, guidance clinic, participation in international trade fairs/exhibitions, selection of technology to name a few, said FIEO Chief .

Among the awardees Reliance Industry was adjudged as the top foreign exchange earner and leading exporter of last 50 years. In IT Services, TCS bagged the Gold Award. Exporters from engineering, chemicals, textiles, agro & processed sector, etc. were also given Gold/Silver/Bronze awards. Amongst the supporting institutions, State Bank of India got the Gold award followed by Canara Bank and Punjab National Bank. -GP....

Hoshiarpur, May 5, 2016: Stating that the mafia and gangsters were spreading their tentacles fastly all over the region, the Dal Khalsa and its youth wing Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) said the ruling Akali Dal and its police have lot to answer to public about the brazen acts and designs of gangs operating from within and outside the jails.

Senior activist of Dal Khalsa Ranbir Singh and office bearers of SYP Paramjit Singh Tanda, Manjit Singh and Gurpreet Singh said mainstream political parties nourish and patronize youth with a criminal bent of mind only to get their services in return at the time of elections.

They wondered as to why the force that always thump its chest for its so-called successes in militant related operations have worn “velvet gloves” while containing the unorganized mafia and gangsters. To drive their point home, they said without any political patronization and police nexus, these goons can’t have a field day.
We are not provoking the force to show their brutality as the cops were infamous for using tyrannical tactics nor do we subscribe to any unlawful methods. We simply want the rule of law to prevail, said they.

If the criminals and goons were to run their crime syndicate and drug business safely from behind bars than what's the use of wasting public exchequer on them. They said public was fully aware that jails have
become safe-dens for them. "It is an open secret that plump posts in jail departments are source of hefty earnings", said Ranbir Singh.

They were of the view that the youth was already in the octopus-like grip of different kinds of alcohol and drug abuse. Now, the exposure of goonda culture would further disturb their lives.

From BJP to Akali Dal to Congress, all have been providing political shelter to goons and anti-social elements. Expressing their concern that the situation might turn from bad to worse, they said elections were around the corner and as usual the muscle-power of gangsters and ill-gotten money of drug lords would be pumped in to lure the voters.

Pointing the grim picture of lawlessness, they said, “the daylight kidnapping of 7 year old girl Shanvi Gupta in Patiala, the gruesome killing of 14 years old Kapurthala boy Jaskirat Singh, suicide by
Inderpal Singh Ahuja of Ludhiana and Joga Singh from Jagraon due to police harassment, numerous sexual assaults against women and continued incidents of suicide by farmer’s speaks of the sorry state of affairs.

They said the gangsters were getting massive publicity in media , which was in fact helping them as misguided and unemployed youth have started looking upon them as “heroes” and getting easily attracted towards their lavish lifestyle. -GP....

Nevada (USA), May 5, 2016: British Museum (BM) has developed an online exhibition “Celebrating Ganesha” with Google Cultural Institute (GCI).

Its tagline includes “Explore the imagery and symbolism associated with Ganesha and gain an insight into some of the most popular stories surrounding him”.

It shows a Ganesha sculpture (1200), Ganesha painting (1600), Ganesha on a swing painting (1800, Maharashtra), Ganesha in procession painting ((1780-1820, Tanjore style), Ganesha on his rat mount painting (1800)—all from BM, and a video on "The making and worship of Ganesha statues in Maharashtra".

It explains about the background of "Why does Ganesha ride a rat?", Ganesha's elephant head and Ganesha’s broken tusk.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, commending BM and GCI for this joint venture in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, urged world museums and multinational technology companies to undertake projects to explore the rich philosophical thought and wisdom offered by Hinduism and Hindu scriptures.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, appealed to major art museums of the world; including Musee du Louvre and Musee d'Orsay of Paris, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Los Angeles Getty Center, Uffizi Gallery of Florence (Italy), Art Institute of Chicago, Tate Modern of London, Prado Museum of Madrid, National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, etc.; to frequently organize Hindu art focused exhibitions, thus sharing the rich Hindu art heritage with the rest of the world.

In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and is invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking.

BM, headquartered in London and founded in 1753, is claimed to be the first national public museum in the world. It now comprises over 8 million objects spanning the history of the world's cultures: from the stone tools of early man to twentieth century prints. Sir Richard Lambert is Trustees Chairman, while Dr. Hartwig Fischer is the Director as of spring 2016.

The GCI claims to bring “together millions of artifacts from multiple partners, with the stories that bring them to life, in a virtual museum”. -GP....

Fresno ( California ) May 4, 2016:
Punjab Congress president and former Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh faced protest by pro-Khalistan separatists after a gathering of non-resident Indians (NRIs) in Fresno, California, on Tuesday. Following the protest, Capt. was whisked away from outside the venue of a meeting with the NRIs. According to reports shoes and other items were also thrown towards the moving car of Capt. Amarinder Singh in a melee caused by the protesters.

Punjab Congress responding to this reports claimed that these were factually incorrect and absolutely misleading rumours.
On the other side a video clip viral on social media showed Capt. Amarinder being driven away in an SUV amid a melee caused by the protesters outside the meeting venue.( Click to open news and watch Video also )
The incident, reportedly, started when Capt. Amarinder was addressing a gathering, and one of the kin of the 1984 riots victim wanted to question the Congress leader over his recent remarks about victims not naming fellow Congressman Jagdish Tytler for the killing of Sikhs in Delhi.
But the man was allegedly asked to keep quiet by Capt. Amarinder’s supporters. As the former CM was about to leave the venue, the Sikh separatists started raising “Khalistan Zindabad” slogans.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, attorney for the group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) who has been opposing Capt. Amarinder’s visit, said, “It’s unfortunate that instead of answering questions regarding his statement about Tytler’s role in 1984, Capt. Amarinder took support of his henchmen and created an atmosphere of fear.”
Meanwhile, Jaspal Dhillon, a Congress leader, in a statement has clarified that there were factually incorrect and absolutely misleading rumours. The viciously malicious intentions and motives of those behind spreading these rumours are quite obvious.
Because nothing of that sort happened. The meeting inside the hall was attended by about a thousand people and it continued for three hours. It went off very well. There were handful of protesters raising anti-India slogans outside the hall and nobody cared about them.
The handful of people tried to raise anti-India slogans after Capt Amarinder came out of the venue of the public meeting. The handful protestors continued with sloganeering as Capt Amarinder left the venue after addressing the meeting.
Capt Amarinder was given a standing ovation after he spoke. All the guests stayed for the dinner.
The motives of those spreading such rumours are quite obvious as they were not very comfortable at the phenomenal and overwhelming response he got from the Punjabi NRI community in the US. Hence they are spreading these rumours since their purpose of disrupting the meetings got defeated.....

Chandigarh, May 4, 2016: Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala has again taken up the crucial issues of power supply accessibility to each and every person in the state of Haryana in Lok Sabha today. Addressing the house during the zero hour, Shri Dushyant Chautala said that it was good that the government had started the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (DDUGVY), aiming to supply power to every village. "It was Haryana CM Ch Devi Lal, who way back in year 1977, took the initiative to provide electricity to every village of Haryana. Now, the need of the hour is not just villages but every person should get access to the electricity supply", he asserted. Shri Dushyant Chautala emphasized that government must ensure that everyone including the human populace residing even in dhani (smallest conglomeration of huts in fields) must also get power supply. "The funds to the tune of Rs 22 crores allocated by the union government for Haryana are not at all sufficient enough to provide power to dhani's. The provision for the electricity supply to dhani's in Haryana, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab should be made under the DDUGVY)", demanded India's youngest MP. Shri Dushyant Chautala and urged the union government to immediately issue a notification bringing the dhani's, as well as all areas, wherein even a group of just 100 people resides, under the ambit of the DDUGVY. -GP....
