Chandigarh, February 9: Former Punjab Pradesh Congress Chief Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa, condemned the discrimination against the Sikhs on foreign shores and slammed the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for having failed to launch a global awareness campaign on Sikh religion and its outer symbols.

Referring to the humiliation meted out to a well-known Indian-American designer and actor Mr. Waris Ahluwalia who was told to remove his turban for security check while boarding a flight from Mexico city airport to New York, he said that this amounted to racial discrimination as a turban is an integral part of the Sikh identity. He was stopped from boarding the flight without such strict security check.

Mr Bajwa said that the Sikhs were being confused with Muslims as many of them too wear headgears like the turbans. The basic issue is of creating awareness about the distinct Sikh identity and this awareness programme should have been undertaken by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee which has totally failed to play any role.

He pointed out that the Sikhs and their shrines have come under increasing racist attacks in the recent years. Several Sikh organizations abroad on their own had launched awareness campaigns on Sikh religion. However, it is the duty of the SGPC which has huge resources at its command. Mr. Bajwa asserted that the real problem is the inefficient leadership which has no interest on such sensitive issues. These resources were being diverted to serve the political ends of the Akali Dal.

He reminded the SGPC leadership that propagating religion and creating awareness about the Sikh faith were among their basic responsibilities.

Chandigarh, February 9, 2016: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today strongly condemned the continuing racist discrimination against the Sikhs in foreign lands. He today appealed to the external affairs minister Smt Sushma Swaraj and the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee to take note of the recent incidents and take up these matters with the concerned authorities as it hurts the sentiments of particular community. Channi also said that he will very soon meet the external affair minister in this regard and personally take up this matter with her. He appealed to the external affairs minister in the union government to take up such issues with the governments concerned so that the Sikhs have not to face such humiliation at the international airports in other countries.
He specially referred to the case of Indian-American Sikh actor and designer Mr Waris Ahluwalia who was not allowed to board flight from Mexico City to New York as he refused to remove his turban for security check. Mr Channi said such action on the part of the airport security was highly objectionable as turban is part of the religious symbol for Sikhs and it can’t be removed in public.
He said of late, Sikhs had been increasingly coming under racist attacks in countries like USA and England where they are settled in large numbers.

Chandigarh, February 9, 2016: Condemning the continued rise in the death toll due to ‘killer buses’ owned by Badals and their close confidants, AAP today demanded immediate ban on these “Killer Buses”.
Today two more persons were killed by the buses owned by Akalis including of Badal families. While a 53 year-old cart puller was crushed to death on Abohar-Malout road by a bus of “Dabwali Bus Service” owned by Badal family, a 40 year-old cyclist was killed in Bathinda by a bus owned by Akali leader and close confidant of Badals Hardeep Singh alias Dimpy Dhillon, said senior Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Himmat Singh Shergil. It is pertinent to mention here that this is the third death within a month due to “Killer Bus Service” owned by Dhillon, Shergil said.
Earlier on February 5, a 27-year-old Dalit man was crushed at Gidderbaha-Muktsar road, followed by death of a 14 year girl in Channu village and a 10 year old dalit girl in Ferozepur by the same “Killer Bus Service” on December 12 and 17 respectively, Shergil said adding, had stern action would have been taken against the erring drivers, such minors could have saved. The high-headedness of Badals could be evident from the fact that even after the molestation and death of a minor dalit girl in Moga by Badals’ owned Orbit Transport, no justice was delivered to victim’s family till today, he added.

4 Lakh Employees/Pensioners already registered for cashless treatment

Chandigarh February 9, 2016: So far, 4 lakh employees / pensioners have been enrolled and issued e-Cards under the Cashless Health Insurance Scheme for employees and pensioners started by Punjab Government from 1st January 2016. This was stated here today by Principal Secretary Health, Ms Vini Mahajan. She said it is for the very first time in India, the employees have been issued Mobile e-Cards and any employee can download on his/her mobile the special App "PGEPHIS" and can look into the details of the scheme, empanelled hospitals, pharmacies, claim status, and authorization status etc. Every employee/pensioner has been informed through SMS regarding confirmation of his/her enrollment and the link for this Application. This is the unique feature that empowers every employee/pensioner to have correct and complete status of his/her claim on his/her finger tips, added Ms Mahajan. She stated that so far, 341 private hospitals all over the State are providing services under this scheme and their details are available on website www.pbhealth.gov.in. This includes 212 multi-specialty hospitals and 129 single specialty hospitals. Many state-of-the-art hospitals like Medanta Gurgaon, Metro chain of hospitals Delhi, Fortis Hospital, MAX Bathinda, IVY Hospital Mohali, Gracian Hospital Mohali, Mayo Hospital Mohali, Grewal Eye Hospital Chandigarh etc. are part of this scheme. She stated that the Insurance Company has already processed cashless claims to the tune of Rs. 2.80 crore for treatment given to 1054 employees / pensioners. In case of any clarification, the beneficiaries can call toll free medical helpline number 104 or can contact 1800-233-4411 or can email to customercare_pgephis@mdindia.com.

Hussan Lal, Secretary Health cum Managing Director PHSC added that owing to certain reports in a section of press regarding some difficulties being faced by employees, he convened a meeting with the employees union recently in which Sh. Ranvir Dhillon, Sh. Sajjan Singh participated and contrary to the reports, they were quite appreciative about the scheme. Though some concerns regarding chronic disease reimbursement were flagged by the employees leaders, it was assured that that chain of pharmacies are being empanelled to dispense cashless medicines to the chronic disease patients but till the registration of chronic disease patients is complete and the empanelment is in place, the employees would be getting reimbursement of their bills from the Insurance Company on the existing pattern. He revealed that there was some confusion regarding interpretation of the notified rates by the Private Hospitals. When clarified, the hospitals are finding these rates to be much more reasonable/ viable as compared to other schemes. He further informed that Fortis Mohali which is the only International level JCI accredited hospital in the northern region now stands empanelled and has agreed to provide cashless treatment to Punjab Government employees and pensioners. Rather 25 employees have already taken cashless treatment from the Fortis, Mohali under this tie up. He also, clarified that since AIIMS Delhi, PGIMER, GMCH Sector 32, and other big Government hospitals don't have dedicated manpower for the scheme to carry cashless transactions, so bills of such Government hospitals will be reimbursed to the employees and pensioners by the Insurance Company for the time being. State Government will also be organizing a workshop in Chandigarh this month for clarifying the doubts and training regarding obtaining prompt authorization from the Insurance Company so that the overall system could be strengthened and certain initial roadblocks like authorization and approvals be removed.

By Gagandeep S Sohal

February 9, 2016, Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will soon initiate a Punjab dialogue with various segments of the society in the state to formulate a policy and manifesto for the forthcoming assembly polls slated for 2017.Addressing a press conference here AAP national Spokesperson and Incharge party affairs in Punjab Sanjay Singh, Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) chairman, Ashish Khaitan, National Organisational Secretary, Durgesh Pathak and Punjab convener, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, said the party would begin Punjab dialogue with people of Punjab from March 15.
Giving details of the ‘Punjab Dialogue’ Khaitan said that a team of AAP volunteers and party workers would reach out to various segments of the society in the days to come to learn about the problems and hardships they have been facing in the state under previous governments. Initially these sections would include farmers, youth, women, industrialists, traders, ex servicemen, labourers, professionals and government employees. Gradually the party would reach out to more segments to learn about their problems.

To begin with AAP would discuss issues such as spate of suicides being committed by farmers, widespread menace of drugs and narcotics, unemployment of the educated youth, corruption in public offices, deteriorating state of health and education, rule of Mafia in the sand, land, liquor, drugs, transport and cable network businesses, rising crime against women, growing atrocities against the Dalits and housing woes. Later on party would also include issues such as declining fiscal health, river waters and worsening of environment in the state. This would not be the end of issues. As the Punjab dialogue would surely throw many more such issues pertaining to the people of Punjab, said Khaitan.

During the Punjab dialogue the AAP volunteers would try to reach out to each and every household in the state to gather information from all sections of the society pertaining to various issues of their concern. Thereafter the party would hold state level dialogue with the intellectuals, thinkers and professionals and on the basis of which it would formulate a policy and the manifesto. Khaitan said the AAP would come out with the blue print of its policy and manifesto on August 15, the Independence Day.

Sanjay Singh said the manifesto of the AAP unlike other political parties would not just be glossy document which they release as a matter of ritual at the time of elections. “For us the manifesto will be our agreement with the people of Punjab which we will be committed to implement for the sake of better Punjab", said Sanjay Singh.

Responding to a question that a picture was doing the rounds on the social media with a message that AAP would observe Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale's birth anniversary on February 12, Sanjay Singh said frustrated by the success of the party it was dirty politics being played by political rivals.

To another question that Punjab Congress Chief Captain Amarinder Singh has alleged that AAP would want to bring anarchy in the state by raising slogans such as Inquilab Zindabad, Sanjay Singh said this again showed congress party's nervousness.“The slogan of Inquilab Zindabad was given to Punjab by martyr Bhagat Singh, who fought against the repression of the British rule in India. The AAP simply wants to against corruption, drug, sand, liquor, transport and cable Mafia by raising such slogans".

People of Punjab do not even expect Amarinder to fight against the Akalis as he lacks, guts, conviction and capacity. “That’s why Amarinder has been opposing CBI probe against Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia over drugs. The Badal government even after eight years has not put up a challan pertaining to Amarinder's corruption case of Ludhiana city centre", said Sanjay Singh while adding that Amarinder's connivance with the Akalis was complete and an open secret.

In response to another question Sanjay Singh defended the hike in salary of the AAP MLAs in Delhi. He said for doing honest politics it was important that the legislators of the AAP must be paid reasonable money for their daily needs. " Amarinder should first explain about the Swiss bank accounts of his wife and former congress union minister Preneet Kaur, his son Ranninder Singh before pointing a finger towards AAP", added Sanjay Singh. ....

New Delhi, February 9, 2016: J P Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launched the National Deworming Day at a function in Hyderabad, today. Speaking on the occasion he said, “We will make sure that we do everything that it takes to assure that no child suffers of a cause that can be prevented”.

The Union Health Minister stated that India shall be in the forefront of the war against Neglected Tropical Diseases. He informed that the Ministry had first launched National Deworming Day (NDD) in 2015 which was implemented in 11 States/UTs across all Government and Government-aided schools and Anganwadi centres targeting children aged 1 to 19 years. The deworming initiative was implemented in 277 districts and 9.49 lakh frontline workers were trained for NDD 2015. The Minister further added that against a target of 10.31 crore children between ages of 1 to 19 years, a total of 8.98 crore children received deworming tablet (Albendazole) through 4.70 lakh schools and 3.67 lakh Anganwadi centres with an unprecedented coverage of 85%. The Minister said, “India is now launching National Deworming Day 2016 to cover the whole country, aiming towards a massive target of 27 crore children in 536 districts of the country”.

Sh Nadda also said that apart from the Health Ministry, Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministries of Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation are collaborating to implement the National Deworming Day effectively for heightened impact.

Shri Nadda said: the National Deworming Day will mobilize health personnel, state governments and other stakeholders to prioritize investment in control of Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) infections—one of the most common infections. Further he said, “It aims to create mass awareness about the most effective and low-cost STH treatment— administering Albendazole tablets. Along with Albendazole administration, behaviour change practices in terms of cleanliness, hygiene, use of toilets, wearing shoes/chappals, washing hands etc. is also important to reduce incidents of re-infection”.

India has the highest burden of parasitic worms in the world. Parasitic worms in children interfere with nutrient uptake, and can contribute to anaemia, malnourishment, and impaired mental and physical development. According to the 2012 report ‘Children in India’, published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, 48% of children under the age of 5 years are stunted and 19.8% are wasted, indicating that half of the country’s children are malnourished.

School-based mass deworming program is safe, cost-effective, and can reach millions of children quickly. Deworming has been shown to reduce absenteeism in schools; improve health, nutritional, and learning outcomes; and increase the likelihood of higher-wage jobs later in life.

At the state and local level, community mobilisation and outreach efforts are underway to engage community-based health workers, like ASHAs, Gram Sabhas and others, to spread awareness and encourage participation in the program.

The Union Health Minister also administered Albendazole tablet to few school children, and also felicitated the school principal of the Telengana Social welfare Residential School (Girls) at Narsingi in the Ranga Reddy District, where the launch event took place.

Also present at the launch function were Dr. Charlakola Laxma Reddy, Telengana Minister of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare; Dr P Mahendra Reddy, Telengana Minister of Transport. Senior Officers of the Health Ministry Shri C K Mishra, AS&MD and Dr Rakesh Kumar, JS (RCH) were also present. ....

Chandigarh, February 9, 2016:
Working on the grass root levels to feel the genuine problems being faced by common man in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claims to come up with a road map of various issues for the ensuing Punjab Assembly Elections 2017 in next a couple of months.
Disclosing this here today National Organisational Secy and Co-In charge Punjab affairs of the Party Durgesh Pathak said that the dedicated teams of AAP activists have launched a door-to-door campaign to make public aware of the Party’s ideology and agenda for the elections.
In an informal chat with reporters and staff of Babushahi.com in the office of Tirchhi Nazar Media at Chandigarh, Durgesh told that the AAP activists have taken up issues like employment, drug menace, education, development besides other socio-economic ones and ensuring general public about their solutions.
Giving reference of a door-to-door campaign recently conducted in Ludhiana (Central), Pathak claimed to have received an overwhelming response from general public. The AAP was not only getting a positive response from urban areas but also from rural areas of state, he claimed adding that the Punjabi were fed up from the Congress and the SAD and were looking for the third alternative and the AAP is there to serve them now.
During his short stay at Babushahi.com office Durgesh talked about the broad perspective of the AAP towards current political situation of Punjab and his party's approach towards the major issues of the state and its people .
Taking on curbing drug menace, he termed the problem a serious and a long term issue which needed to be dealt with care and courage.
Rubbishing Capt. Amarinder Singh’s claims to eradicate the drug menace just in a month, Pathak, claimed that before snapping the supply line of the drugs, we have to think about the rehabilitation of the addicts, infrastructure, doctors, attendants and many other related issues.
Pathak said that mismanagement of funds dragged the state under heavy debts. This clearly shows the incompetence and shortsightedness of the Punjab politicians. To bail out youngsters from unemployment there is need to generate job avenues by setting up industries, developing IT sectors, he said.
In Punjab people want solution as they know their problems and AAP will try to come to their expectations, he claimed.
When asked, how easy AAP is taking the elections after the Party easily managed to win four seats in Lok Sabha elections, he said that election will not be so easy. “People want to go with the winning candidates, so we will make them presume victory of the AAP candidates as the party did in Delhi,” he added.
Baljit Balli, Editor Babushahi.com welcomed Mr Pathak. Gagandeep Sohal, Special Correspondent Babushahi.com and other staff members were also present on the occasion.
