Resentment prevails among SBS State Tech. Campus staff, sans salaries for two months
Ferozepur, October 21, 2020: Resentment prevails among the faculty and staff of SBS State Technical Campus, who have not paid their wages for the last two months.
The salaries of about 200 faculty and non-teaching staff have not been paid for August and September 2020 due to shortage of funds.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur was established by the Government of Punjab in 1995. After the year 2001, the Punjab government did not release any grant to the institute as the college was able to generate sufficient funds from the student fee to pay salary. The officials of the institute informed that all the reserve funds have been exhausted and they are regularly approaching the Technical Education Department for the release of grant. The institute is also waiting for the release of funds from Punjab Government under PM Scholarship Scheme and CM Scholarship Scheme.
Faculty members of the institute informed that despite non-payment of the salaries for the last two months, they had been performing their duties for online classes and conduct of the exams. Now the situation is very difficult as the personal savings are also exhausting, and the coming time will be very difficult for them. The employees of the institute are now finding it difficult to run their families.
They further said, the various faculty and staff members has also met the Minister of Technical Education , Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi and other higher officials in the Technical Education Department of Punjab regarding the payment of their salaries but there is no solution to their problem.
Today, the staff members of the institute submitted a memorandum to the Director of the institute Dr T S Sidhu and urged him to take up their demand firmly before the state government and try to get them salaries.
