Sujanpur/ Pathankot/ Chandigarh, June 24, 2016: The Punjab Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjit Singh Channi today said that the situation in the state was worse than jungle raj as even jungle raj had some norms laid down by the nature but here was goonda raj going by the shoot outs and killings almost every day. Coming down heavily on the SAD BJP government while addressing the workers meeting at Sujanpur today, he said this is the legacy for which the fifth time Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal would be remembered. He alleged the gangs operating in the state had political patronage and this was the reason they had no fear of authorities. The situation was so grave that none was secure.
Mr Channi asserted these elements were also involved in drugs and other such activities. He confronted both Mr Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal who had attacked Mr Rahul Gandhi for maligning the state when he first raised the issue of increasing drug menace in 2012. They had gone to the extent of saying that earlier, the Congress defamed the Sikhs as terrorists and now they were being maligned as druggists.
Channi reminded the father and son to go back to their party manifesto of 2011 for elections to the general house of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. This manifesto promised to the people to launch awareness campaign and open de-addiction centres. He said in case there was no such problem as drugs, how come the Akali Dal mentioned it in its manifestos and that too for the SGPC general election. He said the 2011 manifesto was release when Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal was the Akali Dal president. He called upon the Badals to explain the inclusion of this sensitive issue in the manifesto.
Channi assured the gathering that Dhar vikas board will be formed as soon as congress government is formed in 2017 so that the Dhar area gets its due hilly benefits. He also said that Fina Singh small irrigation project dam, which is being built in Himachal Pradesh, will be stopped immediately and he will personally take up this matter with the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. With the construction of this dam the irrigation water and the drinking water to the Dhar block villages will be affected. He also promised that some big industry will be brought in this area so that employment generation happens in this belt. The congress government will also take stringent action on the illegal mining in this Sujanpur belt.
Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Vice Chairman SC ST Commission while attacking the BJP led Modi government in the centre said that today the price rise has crossed all its past records. The price of Dal, Atta, fuel prices has risen manifold in the last two years. Today these people have actually brought in ACHE DIN for common man. Today atrocities on the Dalits are also on rise in Punjab but the SAD BJP government has done nothing to stop it but they are protecting the culprits who are politically influential people.
S Raja Warring, President Indian youth congress thanked the entire leadership of the Sujanpur constituency for putting up a united show today and appealed to the congress workers to work for the party by taking the policies of the congress home to home. He also appealed to the people to start agitation for stopping illegal mining in the area.
Addressing the gathering senior leader Hans Raj Hans said that the congress party will form the next government in Punjab with full support of the Sujanpur people. Others who were present included Vinay Mahajan, Naresh Puri, Davinder Darshi, Amit Mantu, Sahib Singh Saba, Ramesh Dhar, Ch Rajbir Singh, Onkar Singh, Rajeshwar, Kulbir Pathania, Sushma Sharma, Toshit Mahajan, Arshit chaudhary and other senior leaders of the constituency.
