Chandigarh, June 24, 2016: Fifth seed Snehadevi S Reddy and sixth seed Kyra Shroff, both of India, moved into the singles semi-final of the $10,000 ITF Women's Tennis Tournament at Grand Baie La Croisette (Mauritius) today.
In quarter-final matchds Snehadev overcame a stiff resistance from Elenore Barrere of France 7-6 (2), 7-5 in two hours and 13 minutes while Kyra Shroff took one hour and 37 minutes to beat Pauline Payet of France 6-3, 6-3.
Kyra Shroff, partnering Dhruthi Tatachar Venugopal were denied doubles title by Dutch combination of Rosalie van Der Hoek and Chayenne Ewijk who registered straight sets 6-3, 6-3 verdict in the final which lasted one hour and seven minutes.
Tied 3-3 in the first sets after exchanging breaks in the third and fourth games in singles quarter-final, Kyra Shroff broke Pauline again in the seventh and ninth games to claim the set at 6-3. It was Pauline who earned the first break in the second set to lead 1-0. Kyra Shroff broke her opponent's service in the fourth game to make it 2-2. Another break in the eight game helped Kyra Shroff to win the set at 6-3 and the match.
Winning 58.3 (7/12) per cent service points, Snehadevi defeated Eleonore in the tough singles quarter-final. Eleonore won 50 per cent (6/12) service points in a match which was marked by 15 double faults, including seven by Snehadevi.
In the first set, six breaks were recorded. Eleonore broke service of Eleonore in the third, seventh and ninth games. Eleonore broke Snehadevi in the 4th, sixth and eight games before it was decided in tie-break. Snehadevi won by 7-6 (2).
Snehadevi led 4-1 after breaking her rival in the fourth game of the second set. Eleonore tried hard to match Snehadevi and with breaks in the seventh and ninth games to lead 5-4. Snehadevi broke back in the 10th game to level the score at 5-5 and went on the snatch the set at 7-5 after breaking her rival in the 12th game.
