Chandigarh, March 17, 2024: Former Chandigarh MP and senior Congress leader Pawan Kumar Bansal has commented on BJP's claim of making Chandigarh a smart city. He said that Chandigarh was developed as a smart city, but during the tenure of BJP, the city has become dilapidated.
"Nearly 1000 cameras at a cost of Rs 1 lakh per camera costing Rs 10 crore have been installed in the city in the last 5 years, but apart from issuing challan to the city residents, they are not being used for anything else. Neither crime has reduced in the city, nor have accidents on the roads," said Pawan Kumar Bansal.
"The main objective of a smart city is to provide efficient transportation, cleanliness, and sustainable energy solutions to the residents but nothing like this was seen happening in Chandigarh in the last 10 years. Now at the time of elections, the BJP is just making appearances to confuse the public, while the city residents are deprived of smart facilities," he added.
