Punjab Government has issued instructions to all Government Educational Institutions to ensure admission of Scheduled Castes students without charging any fee under Post Matric Scholarship scheme. A communique in this regard has been sent to all institutions by Welfare Department.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesman informed that this decision was taken with an aim to ensure the uninterrupted study to SC students by not charging any fee at the time of admission.
Besides this, the Punjab Government had also issued detailed guidelines for Private educational institutions for claiming fee waiver under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. He said that now the Private institution would admit SC students without fee and Government would reimburse fee to these institutions. In these cases maintenance allowances would be deposited directly in the bank account of students by online banking management system.
He also said that if Private institutions would charge fee from SC students, than they would be not be eligible for fee claim from welfare department and in that case the reimbursement and maintenance allowance would be deposited directly to the bank account of students. It was also made mandatory for the Private institutions to give undertaking till August 30 annually by mentioning no fee was charged from SC students. Private institutions would also not be able to claim the reimbursement of fee more than fixed by the Government institutions.
The spokesman has made it clear that the students must attend atleast 75 % classes to avail the benefits under this scheme. Besides that educational institutions would have to submit attendance report of SC students to concerned district welfare officer.
