Mohali thrashed Ludhiana by nine wickets in the Punjab Inter-District Under-19 Cricket Tournament for Dronacharya D P Azad Trophy at DAV School ground in Sector 8 here today.
Winning the toss and batting first Ludhiana were bundled out for 80 in 23.4 overs. Gaurav Bedi (3 for 30), Navseerat Singh (3 for 13), Akash Dahri (2 for 21) and Taranpreet Singh (2 for 15) shared the spoils for Mohali. Rahul Khanna, with unbeaten 13, was the highest run getter for Ludhiana.
Replying Mohali scored 81 for 1 in 10.2 overs to log four points while Ludhiana got zero. Shubman Gill (not out, 11x4s) and Taranpreet Singh (26 not out, 6x4s) added 70 runs for the unbroken second wicket stand.
In the second match played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala, Patiala continued their winning streak as they beat Jalandhar by 92 runs to win their 4th match on a trot and garnered 4 points to take their points tally to 16 in four matches and assured themselves of the title.
Winning the toss Patiala opted to bat and led by a swashbuckling century 106 by opener Jashanpreet Singh made a reasonable total of 237 runs in 48 overs before being bowled out. Jashanpreet’s 106 off 126 balls contained 14 boundaries.
Damandeep Singh (3 for 38), Prerit Dutta (3 for 41) and Vikram Singh (2 for 31) were the most successful bowlers for Jalandhar.
Replying Jalandhar were bowled out for 145 in 39.5 overs Arjun Verma (59, 5x4s) was the highest run getters for Jalandhar. For Patiala M. Markande (4 for 31), Akul Pandove (2 for 18) and Gurvinder Singh (2 for 17) shared the spoils.
In the third match played at Gandhi Grounds in Amritsar, Chandigarh edged past Amritsar by 14 runs to garner four points while Amritsar got zero. Winning the toss and electing to bat Chandigarh scored 165 in 39 overs. Raman Bishnoi scored 70 off 91 balls with 6x4s while Abhishek Sharma (4 for 47) and Rahul Kashyap (2 for 13) were the main wicket takers for Amritsar.
Replying Amritsar were bowled out for 151 in 36.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma hit 88 off 89 balls inclusive of 5 boundaries and 5 x6s. Raman Bishnoi (4 for 30) and Amandeep Singh (2 for 24) were the most successful bowlers for Chandigarh.
