Jalandhar, October 23, 2016 : The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested President of Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH), Janakpuri, New Delhi and a private person on the allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 20 lakh.
A case was registered U/s 120-B of IPC r/w Section 7, 12 & Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of P C Act, 1988 against President of Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH), Jawaharlal Nehru Bhartiya Chikitsa Avum Homeopathic Anusandhan Bhawan, Janakpuri, New Delhi; a private person resident of Gurgaon (Haryana); Assistant Director (Homeopathy), Indian Systems of Medicine & Homeopathy (Ayush), Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Gujarat; one of the trustees and Vice President of a private University, Bhavnagar Highway Kasturbadham, Rajkot (Gujarat); a Professor of a Homeopathic Medical College, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh); an official of National Institute of Homeopathy, Department of Ayush, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (GoI), Kolkata; an official of a Homeopathy College & Hospital, Rohtak (Haryana) and unknown others. It was alleged that a private University based at Rajkot (Gujarat) had applied for setting of a new Homeopathy college and the Vice President of the said University was in a regular contact with both the President of CCH & a private person for getting inspection carried out by such team of Inspectors of CCH who would give favourable inspection report. The President deputed a three member team including a Professor of Homeopathy Medical College, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) & two others from National Institute of Homeopathy (GoI), Kolkata and Homeopathy College & Hospital, Rohtak (Haryana) to conduct the inspection. The inspection was conducted during September, 2016. The President of CCH had allegedly demanded illegal gratification & the part amount of which Rs. 20 lakh was to be delivered in New Delhi and the same was to be collected from a hawala operator.
CBI laid a trap to apprehend the accused persons. The private person has obtained an alleged bribe of Rs. 20 lakh on behalf of then President of CCH. The President of CCH and the private person were subsequently arrested.
Searches were conducted at Delhi, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Jabalpur & Kolkata including the official & residential premises of accused persons and others which led to recovery of incriminating documents. A sum of Rs. 21.5 lakh (approx.) was also recovered from the residence of private person at Gurgaon.
Both the arrested accused are being produced today in the Designated Court, Delhi.
Further investigation is continuing.
