Fatehgarh Sahib, December 07, 2016: To create awareness among voters to cast their vote without any pressure, fear, lust, greed and influence, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Kamaldeep Singh Sangha today launched signature campaign under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation ( SVEEP) Programme. He said that the constitution of India has given the right to vote, so it becomes the duty of every citizen to exercise his vote to strengthen the democracy system. He said that as per the directions of Election Commission of India the work on the revision of electoral rolls is in progress and anyone who attains the age of 18 years on 1st January can make his vote by filling Form No.6. He can also call on help line number 1950.
He said that this signature campaign will be taken to grass root level to create awareness among the voters even in remote rural areas and the respective SDMs have been directed to supervise the campaign in their areas. He said sign boards, hoarding and banners are also being placed on public places and particularly in school and colleges. He called upon the students to act as SVEEP ambassadors in their vicinity. " With a view to converting SVEEP campaign into mass movement, the students have been asked to get the " Sankalp Patra" filled from their parents also.
