SAD (B) Office Bearers protesting at Khamano
Fatehgarh Sahib, December 08, 2016: Various SAD(B) leaders, officer bearers, panches, block samiti members in Bassi Pathana and Khamano towns part of Bassi Pathana constituency have resigned from their posts in protest against the appointment of Barinder Singh Sodhi as Chairman of Market Committee Bassi Pathana. They have threatened to resign from the party if he is not replaced immediately.
It is worth mentioning that Barinder Singh Sodhi was yesterday appointed chairman of market Committee Bassi Pathana by CM. His appointment has sparked a controversy as a powerful group of SAD(B) workers and leaders owing allegiance to Nirmal Singh MLA Bassi Pathana now shifted to Chamkaur Sahib as party candidate are up in arms against the appointment. They termed him as a Congress man. The party in the constituency is divided in many factions.
The block samiti members, sarpanches, SAD(B) office bearers and other workers under the leadership of Kulwinder Kaur chairperson Block Samiti Khamano today hold a meeting and passed a resolution to resign from all the party posts and threatened that if Barinder Singh Sodhi is not replaced they will resign from the party.
Earlier approximately 50 leaders, workers, sarpanches and members of block samiti Bassi Pathana hold a protest meeting at Bassi Pathana in protest against the appointment and resigned from their posts and threatened to resign from the SAD(B).
The leaders from both the towns said that a person belonging to Congress background has been appointed chairman by ignoring dedicated SAD(B) workers and leaders. They have also decided not to attend any rally, meetings of SAD(B) and even to boycott the Chief Minister’s Sangat Darshan program likely to be held on 12th December.
This controversy has created an awkward situation for Darbara Singh Guru, who has been allotted the SAD(B) ticket from Bassi Pathana constituency. He said that he is not aware of the appointment as he is new to area and the appointment was made earlier but announced yesterday by CM. He called upon the party leaders and workers for restrain and assures to look into.
