Kamal Yadav honours ex-servicemen families
Hoshiarpur: 8 December, 2016: The Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year on 7th December. The idea behind the celebrations is to express the nation’s solidarity with the soldiers in recognition of their sacrifices for the sake of our country.
On this day, the community also expresses its gratitude and appreciation by contributing to the ‘Armed Forces Flag Day Fund’ to honour the brave and the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice, as well as to salute the valiant soldiers, sailors and airmen, both serving and veterans.
Reports of the Flag Day celebrations have been received from various districts. D C Jalandhar, Kamal Kishore Yadav said the country would remain indebted to the security forces for serving the nation with great distinction during war and peace. Kamal Yadav was presiding over a function related with Flag Day celebrations in Jalandhar.
Kamal Yadav said “During the past year, financial assistance of Rs 6.18 lakh has been provided to 109 widows and ex-servicemen in distress and other deserving beneficiaries.

Presiding over the function, DC Anindita Mitra said “Armed Forces Flag Day is solemnly observed every year on 07 December. By displaying Armed Forces Flags on this day, the citizenry reinforce their solidarity with the Armed Forces”. We renew our solidarity with our brave soldiers both serving and retired added Anindita.
Anindita said “We have distributed 4.50 lakh stickers in the district. There are around 60000 (Sixty thousand) ex-servicemen in our district. She also urged all citizens to voluntarily contribute towards the noble cause of the rehabilitation of ex-servicemen.

Presiding over the function in Mansa, DC Varinder Kumar Sharma said “Flag Day brings to the forefront our obligation of looking after our disabled comrade-in-arms, widows and dependents of those who have give up their lives for the country.
