Ferozepur, May 25, 2016: As many as, seven labourer fell into 50 ft deep well at the construction site of new bridge at Satluj river at Harike. While one labourer died, seven were seriously injured.
The deceased identified is Shoker Tirki sonb of Jetia Tirki resident of Kandore Munda of Jharkhand while the 7 injured had been identified as Sudhir, Mohan, Farnades, Soro, Anoop, Sandeep and Umesh.
According to information, all these workers fell down at pillar number 24 late nights on Monday due to poor shuttering and the incident was kept secret.
Added here that M/s SP Singla Construction Co. Pvt Ltd has been allotted Rs.234 crore project of the four lane work from Bathinda to Amritsar which include 36 pillers over the Satluj river near Hari Ke and the construction work is to be completed by September 2017 and till now only 25 per cent work has been completed.
The company had failed to make safety arrangements at the construction site like wearing of helmets or other safety tools which are mandatory to be provided by the company to secure of the workers resulting in the untoward incident at the construction site.
It is surprising that the entire incident was kept secret. Neither the dead body of the deceased has been searched so far nor is the location of treatment of the injured known.
No one of the construction company representative was available to further to know further details.
