Captain Amarinder Singh
Chandigarh, May 26, 2016: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today said the greatest achievement during the last two years of Modi regime was that the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had been shown his place and made to realise that Dr Manmohan Singh and the Congress party were actually the well wishers of Punjab and certaily not the BJP.
"Moreover, two years have already passed since Arun Jaitely took over as the Finance Minister and we are yet to receive the first instalment of truckload of money Mr Badal promised Punjabis", Capt Amarinder said in a statement on the completion of two years of Mr Modi's government at the centre, adding, "rather Punjab has not even been getting the routine cash credit limit on time for payment to the farmers for their crops".
Asserting that the two years of Modi regime have only been the years of betrayal with farmers, with ex-servicemen or the common man across the country, the PCC president said, "we really did not expect much from you, but what we are happy about is the way you have made our Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal realise that it was actually the Congress government led by Dr Manmohan Singh at the centre which always cared about Punjab much against his (Badal's) breast beating that Congress discriminated with the state".
"Every time you knocked at Dr Singh's door you were not only received with open arms but granted whatever you sought and demanded", Capt Amarinder reminded Mr Badal while adding, "and compare those days with those of Mr Modi who, leave aside granting you your wishes, is not prepared to meet you even". So, he added, by now Mr Badal must have realised who has humiliated Punjab and who has been "anti-Punjab".
