Zubin Nijawan
Chandigarh, March 16, 2017: Chandigarh amateur Zubin Nijhawan rose to the top of the leaderboard after carding the day's best card of three-under 69 to take his total to one-over 217 at the Delhi NCR Cup 2017 here at the Delhi Golf Club.
Delhi amateur Kshitij Naved Kaul is in close pursuit after he shot one-under 71 to take his three day total to two-over 218 followed by the Noida duo of Harimohan Singh and overnight leader Simarjeet Singh a further stroke behind at 219.
Defending champion Yashas Chandra is still within a touching distance of the leader after his even-par 72 third round saw him take the sole fifth place at 220 ahead of Sunit Chowrasia in sixth at 221.
Zubin's round began with a couple of straightforward pars before dropping a shot on the 3rd before sinking birdies on the 5th, 8th and the 9th holes to go out at two-under for the day. After the turn he was unfortunate to card a bogey on the 13th but recovered the dropped stroke with a birdie on the 15th hole before gaining another stroke on the par 3 17th hole to move into the top spot.
Kshitij leads the Delhi State Championship after carding his first red digits of the week and is the favorite to clinch the title with Vinay Kumar Yadav a distant second six strokes behind.
