Bathinda, March 18: After assuming the charge of office as Deputy Commissioner yesterday, Mr. Diprava Lakra today held a meeting with the officers of civil and police administration to know the status of schemes, ongoing works and projects in the district.
Reviewing the status of preparations and arrangements being made for wheat procurement, Deputy Commissioner directed all the authorities to finalised all needful exercises by 27 March with a view to ensuring smooth and hassle free wheat procurement. He instructed District Food and Civil Supplies Controller, District Mandi Officer and representatives of various procurement agencies to work in tandem besides completing all preparations pertaining to procurement including labour, lifting, transportation, space in mandis, basic amenities at all centers for the facilitation of farmers
Taking stock of welfare schemes, Mr. Lakra also reviewed the pension scheme, pendency of cases. He directed officers of various departments to implement the welfare initiatives at grass root level so that maximum number of beneficiaries could avail the benefit of these schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner sought the information about road infrastructure in the district and its expansion plan, if needed. He asked officers of Public Works Department to submit a detailed report in this regard to his office within two days so that requisite plan could be chalked out. The four laning of Highway, repair and laying of Major District Roads, Other District Roads, link roads and other roads under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana was also discussed in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also asked the officers/officials of various departments to maintain discipline and punctuality in their offices besides meeting timelines of given works. He said that laxity and lateness would not be tolerated. He said that public issues should be resolved in time-bound manner and on priority basis.
EDUCATION AND HEALTH SERVICES TO REMAIN ON PRIORITY
Lakra said that imparting Quality Education and providing flawless Health Services in government hospitals would be his focus area. He said that a blueprint in this regard was also being introduced.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that with the help of all stake holders an Action Plan was being prepared to curb the drug menace. Mr. Lakra said that drugs to be dealt with a heavy hand. He said that besides Police and Civil Administration, Health Department, doctors with different expertise, Educational Institutes, Non Government Organisations, general public etc would also play a pivotal role in this task.
