Nawanshahr, April 27, 2016 : One of the youngest MLA, Angad Singh, mooted the idea of mobilising NGOs and Corporate Houses for extending their wholehearted support for developing state of the art infrastructure in the district.
Angad was expressing his views at the " Sanmaan Samoroh" organised by the District Tournament Committee to honour as many as 54 school students who have excelled at the national and state level games.
The function was organised at the local Govt. Sr. Sec. School. The budding sports persons, school principals, teachers, representative of corporate houses and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
"During my school days, I remained a sports person and have participated at the national level games. I am well aware of the problems and requirements being faced by the sports persons", said Angad.
"To take the youth out of the vicious circle of the menace of drugs, the need of the hour is to channelise their energy towards positive direction. The developing sports infrastructure could play a vital role for this purpose", further added the MLA.
Lauding the initiatives of the representatives of DSM Pvt. Ltd. in extending benevolent help in developing infrastructure in government schools, the MLA exhorted them to also plan financial assistance out of the Corporate Social Responsibility Funds for the development of sports infrastructure.
" Besides taking up the issue with the state government, he would mobilise the NGOs and Corporate Sector for providing better infrastructure and coaching facilities to the youth", further said the MLA.
District Education Officer, Paramjit Kaur Sidhu, said that the district education department had been making dedicated efforts for ensuring all round development of the students. The students of the district had been excelling in academic, sports, science, co curricular fields at national and state levels,
Amarjit Khatkar, General Secretary, District Tournament Committee, Rakesh Chander, AEO( Sports) presented the progress report of the tournament committee.
Besides honouring as many as 54 students who have excelled in various sports at the national and state level games, school teachers - Dr. Sandeep Kaur, Lehmber Singh, Jaswant Singh, Manjit Singh, Arvinder Singh, Renu Bala and representatives of DSM Pvt. Ltd. - AS Sohal and Shiv Charan, were also honoured for their laudable contributions.
Lalit Mohan Pathak, MC, president, Dr., Kamal, Sachin Diwan, Vinod Pinka, Kulwant Kaur ( MCs), Principal Sushma Sharma, Parmod Bharti, Lalit Sharma, Kashmir Singh Sauna, Baldev Kariha, Satnam Singh Kahma, among others, were present on the occasion.
