Nawanshahr, May 24, 2017: Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore on Wednesday exhorted the corporate sector to come forward to shoulder the responsibility under Corporate Social Responsibility to ensure proper upkeep of Gaushalas in the state.
The Governor was addressing a gathering of representatives of Gaushalas, industrial units, social, political and religious organisations at Gobind Gau Dhaam, Chandpur Rurki here today." The Corporate Sector especially the institutions like ASSOCHEM and CII should come forward to constitute a dedicated fund for extending liberal financial assistance to the Gaushalas," he said.
He also handed over the keys of a tractor to Swami Krishnanand donated by Sonalika Tractors for the Gaushala.
While assuring the representatives of different Gaushalas that he would take up the issue of restoration of free power facility to the Gaushalas with the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, the Governor said that he was hopeful that the Chief Minister would positively review the decision for the welfare of the Gaushalas.
While sharing his experiences of "Gau Sewa", the Governor stressed the need of progeny of Indian breeds like Sahiwal, Sindhu, Mahi etc.
Earlier, the Governor, inaugurated the Barapur - Chandpur Rurki link road constructed with the MPLAD fund amounting to Rs.1.23 crore released by the former MP, Avinash Rai Khanna. He also planted saplings as part of tributes to the former minister of state Anil Madhav Dave.
Former MP and Vice Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Avinash Rai Khanna said that he had released a sum of Rs.30 lakh for setting up plant to generate power from cowdung. Raising demand of Ambulance for the Guashala, the former MP said that he would meet the CM Amarinder Singh to raise the issues for ensuing welfare of the Gaushalas in the state.
Balachaur MLA, Chaudhary Darshan Lal, while expressing gratitude towards the gesture of the Governor, Punjab, said that he would also take up the issue of restoring free power facility to the Gaushalas with the Chief Minister.
Former MLAs, Nand Lal, Ram Kishan Kataria, Kimti Lal Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner, Sonali Giri, Ravinandan Shashtri, Varinder Kaur Thandi, Sanjiv Bhardwaj, SDM, Jagjit Singh, Baba Sudh Singh Dhussian, among others were present on the occasion.
