Nawanshahr, May 29, 2017: The development activities would be conceived and executed above party politics to ensure safeguarding interest of the public in its true spirit, said Nawanshahr MLA, Angad Singh, while interacting with media persons here at his residence today. Divulging details, Angad said that the construction of 21 km. stretch of Alachaur-Machhiwara road had been redesigned in public interest.
"Earlier, the project was to be executed at a cost of Rs. 14 Crore. Now, the project has been redesigned to with added cost of Rs. 4 Crore. The main objective behind redesigning the project is to make it accident free", said the MLA while adding that the stretch of the road passing through Nawanshahr town is one of the busiest and most of the educational institutions are situated here. Hence, the project has been redesigned to make it accident free area.
Moreover, the sincere efforts to clear traffic bottlenecks in different chowks especially the Fatti-Basta Chowk amicably are underway, further said Angad Singh adding that no discrimination would be done with anyone as well as no one would be forced in the process.
The on going construction work of old court road from Chandigarh Chowk to Fatti Basta Chowk would be completed shortly. The best solution for solving the problem of leakage of underground water supply pipes have been made to ensure long-life of the road, further said the MLA.
"Besides, with a view to ensure timely help in case of fire accidents, the Local Bodies Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu has responded positively to his request to sanction an additional fire brigade for Nawanshahr. The Fire brigade would soon be provided to the local Municipal Council", said Angad Singh adding that he had recently been on study tour of United KIngdom alongwith a 12 member delegation from India. During study tour, he had got the chance to learn the different systems fo bringing in qualitative improvement in education system, water management and other development activities. He would strive hard to replicate the best of the development models in his constituency, he assured.
