Malsian (Jalandhar), 24 June 2017: (APS Brar) With an aim to encourage the common people for emphasizing on girls ‘education, SDM Shahkot Navneet Kaur Bal has launched a special campaign to disseminate message of `Beti Padao Beti Bachao` up to each household in Shahkot Sub Division.
Addressing a program under the banner of `Beti Padao Beti Bachao`at APS College here today Navneet Bal said that with the passing through experience of ages every nation has convinced that no society ca eradicate social evils or ensure economic and social upliftment in real terms without promoting Women Education. SDM said that in tandem with this global experience Union Government as well as the state government of Punjab has launched several schemes for promoting girl education at school level and at higher level.
“Our aim is to encourage the parents for coming forward to provide their girls best possible education. Girls belonging to families with lower income groups can fulfil their dreams of getting education by getting benefit of various government schemes. To make the people aware of such initiatives taken by the government this special campaign has been started at Sub Division level involving the educational institutes and other concerned departments, added Navneet Bal.
SDM further informed that a plan has also been chalked out for career counselling sessions with focusing on rural areas so that the maximum girls can get awareness about the degree courses, occupational courses and various study streams after 10th and 10+2 standards. It has been experienced that those students do well in studies or occupations who decide about their careers at advance stage. SDM said that involvement of the local people also being ensured so that a coherent atmosphere can be created for promoting girl education.
Earlier, a poster making competition was held in the College campus to mark International Yoga Day on the theme of Yoga, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Swach Bharat Mission by the district administration in collaboration with the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Deputy Director DFP Pritam Singh, Tehsildar Tarsem Singh and other officers of civil and Police administration.
