Fatehgarh Sahib, July 20, 2017: On the directions of K.S. Pannu, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board and Kanwalpreet Brar, DC, Fatehgarh Sahib a joint team of Punjab Pollution Control Board and Traffic police, Fatehgarh Sahib led by Rakesh Kumar Nayyar, Environmental Engineer and Hemant Kumar, Inspector, Traffic Police today conducted surprise checking of vehicles on GT Road Sirhind particularly of School and College buses regarding the noise pollution caused by the pressure horns installed in the buses.
The team checked 63 buses of school and 22 buses of university and pressure horns were got removed on the spot from the buses of Om Parkash Bansal School Mandi Gobindgarh and RIMT University.
The team briefed the drivers of buses not to use pressure horns and play harsh music system in their buses, otherwise action will be initiated against them as per Law. They informed that regular checking of pressure horns will be carried out.
PPCB Official also checked Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mandi Gobindgarh to asses the compliance of Bio-Medical Waste Rules, 2016. They warned the staff that regular checking of healthcare facilities will be continued in future.
