Jalandhar, August 10, 2017: More than 2100 students from the various Educational institutions of the district would participate in the function to mark Independence Day this year at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium.
These students from the various Educational institutions of the city would perform in various events like PT, March past and other cultural items showcasing the rich socio-cultural heritage of the state. The students were already conducting rehearsals in the stadium to fine tune their performances for the mega event. The full dress rehearsal for the event would be held on August 13, in which all the officers of the district administration would also take part.
As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, the Health department would deploy medical teams during the Independence Day celebration to provide quick assistance to the participants in case of any emergency. Elaborate arrangements would be made providing the facility of potable drinking water to the participants and students during this mega event in which Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa would unfurl the national flag during the function on August 15.
The Police Department was also keeping a strict vigil for providing the security during the event. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar Mr. Rajinder Singh today visited the stadium to check the security arrangements. He had detailed deliberations with the officers of the Police force besides Colonel (Retd.) Manmohan Singh and Assistant Director Youth Services Captain Inderjeet Singh Dhami, who were monitoring the preparations for the Independence Day.
Meanwhile, the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ms. Deepika Singh would lead the contingents of paramilitary forces, Punjab Police, Home Guards, NCC, Scouts and Guides during the parade to commemorate Independence Day function this year. Likewise, the bands of CRPF and Indian Army would add zing to the festivities of Independence Day.
