Jalandhar, August 11, 2017: The Director, Punjab Industries Department, DPS Kharbanda today said that the state government would soon introduce investor- friendly New Industrial Policy to give impetus to the industrial development in the state.
Interacting with the industrialists of Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur districts here today, the Director said that this policy has been meticulously drafted by the state government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in due consultation of the industrialists. He said that the main motive of this Industrial policy was to provide ease of doing business to the entrepreneurs besides giving a major fillip to the industrial development of the state. Mr. Kharabanda said that all out efforts were being made by the Chief Minister to ensure that the state was put on high growth trajectory by giving boost to economy of the state.
Exhorting the industrialists to take maximum mileage of the Government of India’s policy to boost industrial development in the state especially the Medium and Small Manufacturing Enterprises (MSME) sector, the Director said that the state government was making concerted efforts to facilitate the industrial units in availing the benefits under this scheme. He said that in last around one month the state Industries department has already gave nod to ten projects of the industrial units in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and Ludhiana for construction of clusters. Mr. Kharbanda said that under this cluster system the Industrial units together could set up a ‘Common Facilitation Centre’ to promote their business.
Meanwhile, during the meeting with Director Industries, the Industrialists from Doaba region evinced keen interest in setting up Autopart, Handtools, Foundries, Plywood, Surgical, Printing, Rubber, Sports and other clusters in the region. Assuring fulsome support and cooperation to these industrialists, Mr. Kharbanda said that the state industries department would act as a facilitator for the setting up of these clusters.
The General Manager of Industries Department, Mahesh Khanna was also present in the meeting.
