August 14, Ferozepur: The meeting of Bhartiya Kisan Union Lakhowal in its meeting held today decided to boycott the Independence Day celebrations of August 15 to protest the wrong and anti-farmers policies of the government.
In the meeting the BKU leaders pointed out that farmers has gone debt-ridden due to wrong policies of the government, sand mafia, cable mafia and spurious supply of pesticides.
Addressing the meeting, Bharti Kisan Union District Lakhowal District President Amrik Singh said prior to 1947 no farmers was under debt but due to anti-farmer policies of the government after the independence the farmers had gone under debt resulting in hundreds of suicides due to financial crisis.
He said, the BKU will celebrated the Independence Day as Black Day and today’s Independence Day is day of ruining the farmers.
The Union also passed a resolution that BKU will protest in case the Punjab language is omitted from the Aadhar Card.
Amrik Singh advised the farmers not to commit suicides rather fight against the system.
