Health Department observes World Mental Health Day at Bathinda
Bathinda, October 11, 2017: Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Bathinda Dr Hari Narayan Singh, the health department observed World Mental Health Day at Summer Hill Convent School Bathinda.
Speaking at the event the expert for mental illnesses Dr Arun Bansal stated that is mandatory for a person to be physically, mentally and socially fit. If anyone is mentally ill, it affects the society as well. Changes of behaviour, sleeplessness, changes in daily working etc are some of the symptoms of mental illness. Mental illness is like any other form of illness and can be treated with medical treatment. One should not move towards myths and half truths.
He said that doctors dealing with mental illnesses are available at the district level. Also medicines are available at the government hospitals. He talked to the students about changes their bodies and minds undergo during the transition to adolescent age. He called upon students to keep away from mobile phone and video games.
The district mass media officer Jagtar Singh appealed students to celebrate pollution free Diwali without using crackers. He also enlisted dos and don’ts while using fire crackers.
The expert for mental illnesses Dr Arun Bansal, mass media officer Jagtar Singh, deputy mass media officer Kulwant Singh, Neelam Sharma, Shimpu Gupta, Jagdish Ram, Mamta Sony, Kiran Gupta etc. were also present besides students of the school.
