Under charity scheme 100 blankets distributed to 40 families
More clothes to be distributed on 25t October: Ghanshyam Thori

Ahead of the festival of lights, Diwali, the Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Ghanshyam Thori today distributed clothes and blankets to the poor and needy, here today. These items were distributed amongst the poor and needy under the ongoing "Charity Scheme" of the District Administration.
For helping the underprivileged and downtrodden sections of the society, the District Administration and District Red Cross Society had launched a "Charity Scheme" under which a "Charity Van" was also started that moved in different parts of the city to collect old items such as clothes, shoes, books etc. These items were collected with an aim to further distribute them amongst the needy through the District Red Cross Society. A main chowk has been renamed as "Charity Chowk" by the District Administration, where specially designed boxes have been installed, where people can come and donate their old clothes, shoes, books etc.
Today, the Deputy Commissioner distributed 100 blankets to 40 families of the Kusht Ashram, here. A free medical checkup camp under the ongoing "Sanjeewani Scheme" was also organised in the premises. Later, clothes collected under the "Charity Scheme" were distributed to hundreds of poor and needy persons at the Shani Mandir, here.
While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that serving the underprivileged and downtrodden sections of the society is a supreme service to the society. He said that soon, the District Administration would be opening a shop near the Charity Chowk, where the poor and needy can come and purchase clothes at nominal rates. He also informed that another such distribution of clothes would be done at 25 Acre area of the city on October 25, 2017.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Dr Himanshu Gupta, Mr Gurjit Singh Brar, Mr Javed Khan, Mr Rupinder Singh Sandhu, Mr Dheeraj Kumar Daddahoor, Mr Vijay Kumar Bhadauria, Principal Mrs Neelam Sharma, Mr Darshan Singh Sanghera, Mr Vijay Bhaskar, Mr Nachhatar Singh, Mr VC Goyal, Secretary District Red Cross Society Mr Vijay Gupta, besides several others.
