Jalandhar, October 12, 2017: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Deepika Singh today said that girls should make strenuous efforts for becoming capable of decision-making, which was empowerment of women in real sense.
Interacting with the students here during an interactive session organized by district administration to observe Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign in St Soldier College of management, the Assistant Commissioner of Police said that all efforts aimed towards empowering the women would be fruitful only if girls were capable of decision making. Until and unless this goal was achieved the women empowerment would remain a distant dream, she observed adding that the need of the hour was to change the parochial mindset of society regarding the status of women.
Lauding the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign spearheaded in the country, the Assistant Commissioner of Police said that this was a great initiative aimed at educating and empowering the girl child. She said that this much needed campaign has evolved a thought process in the country which was the need of the hour. Ms. Deepika Singh said that this campaign must be inculcated in our daily routine so as to make it a mass movement adding that as girl was the centre figure of society so this campaign was synonymous to Samaj Bachao campaign.
Evoking the examples of key women achievers of the world, the Assistant Commissioner of Police said that the girls have proved their mettle in every sphere of life. She said that the girls should move forward with a determined and focused approach to excel in life. Ms. Deepika Singh said that there was nothing impossible for the girl if she puts all her might to realize her dreams.
On the occasion Managing Director of the institute Mr. Manhar Arora and District Guidance Counselor Mr Surjeet Lal felicitated the Assistant Commissioner of Police.
It may be recalled that district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma was organizing these interactive sessions to spread awareness amongst people against exploitation of women and motivate them to empower the women.
