Moga, October 12, 2017: While there is a tendency to malign the government on tardy implementation of schemes, but the MGNREGA has proved a boon for the poor in rural areas.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) scheme, during the current financial year 2017-18, Rs 23 crore 68 lacs 18 thousand have been spent of which Rs 22 crore 75 lacs 66 thousand have been spent on labour and Rs 92 lacs 52 thousand have been spent on the material.
Giving information in this context the ADC (D) Rajesh Tripathi stated that the amount has been spent block-wise on developmental works. He said that for block Moga-1 Rs 4 crore 12 lacs 28,000 were spent, at Moga-2 block Rs 4 crore 27 lacs 71,000 were spent, at Baghapurana Rs 4 crore 15 lacs 19,000 were spent, at Nihal Singh Wala Rs 5 crore 63 lacs 86,000 were spent and at block Kot Isse Khan Rs 5 crore 49 lacs 14,000 were spent under MGNREGA. He added that proper utilization of MGNREGA funds is being ensured.
He further added that under the scheme total 1,104 works were selected of which 257 works have been completed, which working is going on of rest 847 projects. He stated that the developmental works included work in rural connectivity, Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Sewa Kendra, Anganwari Kendra, construction of toilets in rural areas and land leveling for plantation etc.
Tripathi further stated that in the five blocks of the district, job cards of 71,173 people were made. He added that for the developmental works in village 8,84,892 men days work was given of which 3,49,903 have been done by women. He added that under MGNREGA total 35,832 families were given work and 31 families completed total 100 days of employment with MGNREGA. He added that the benefits of MGNREGA scheme should reach grass root and maximum work should be done so that the poor get opportunities for employment.
