Jalandhar, December 07, 2017: Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer
Jalandhar Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh today inspected the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to be used for the upcoming Municipal Corporation Polls.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner today visited the Government Polytechnic College for girls where the experts from the Election Commission were thoroughly checking the 900 EVMs to be used during the MC polls. He said that the main motive of this inspection was to ensure that polling was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner. Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh said that these machines would be installed at all the polling booths during the elections for Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, two Municipal Committees of Bhogpur and Goraya and Two Nagar Panchayats of Shahkot and Bilga.
On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner also had detailed interactions with the engineers checking these machines in the college complex. He said that all these EVMs would be ready for the use within few days after reformatting. Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh said that the district administration was duty-bound for holding these polls in a peaceful, free and fair manner.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that elaborate arrangements have already been made by the district administration to ensure that the citizens exercise their right to franchise during the upcoming polls. He said that apart from assigning duties to the staff all the necessary arrangements for conducting these polls was also being made.
