Fatehgarh Sahib, December 09, 2017: Under the directive of National Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalat was organized in Fatehgarh Sahib under the supervision of Harpal Singh, District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority. Prashant Verma, CJM -cum- Secretary District Legal Services Authority said that 1444 cases, including pre-litigated cases, were taken up for settlement out of which 743 cases were amicably settled for a total settlement amount of Rs 81,44,94,704.
He said that 8 benches were constituted at Fatehgarh Sahib and One bench was constituted at Amloh presided by Krishnanuja Mittal, JMIC and one in Khamanon presided by Himanshi Galhotra SDJM.
He said that the major benefits of Lok Adalat are that the court fees paid by the litigant is refundable and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties. litigants as well as lawyers actively participated in the Lok Adalat and appealed to other litigants to endear themselves to Lok Adalats to avail cost and time effective and perpetual benefits.
