Ferozepur, December 14, 2017: Despite final nod from the railways and handing over the cost amount of Rs.10 crore, in two installments, for Rail Under Bridge – RUB at Basti Tanka Wali, which connects Ferozepur City and Cantonment, the work on the project is yet to see the day of light and railway is enjoying the amount paid in advance to the railways by the Municipal Council.
The procedural wrangles are still stated to be the reason behind its delay as the Sewerage Board and Electricity Board departments have yet to coordinate with the railways for their jobs.
With the announcement of the RUB and handing over of the full amount to the railways, thousands of residents had heaved a sigh of relief who had to wait for a long time at the railway crossing even for half an hour as the crossing road comes under the shunting range, but due to certain formalities yet to be completed at the railway headquarter level, the project is stuck up.
About two years have passed but the sources said the Commissioner of Railway Safety is yet to give approval for this RUB.
However, the railway officials have confirmed the allotment of tender to the Rajasthan Company and partially the work has started for construction of slabs but the certain works at the level of sewerage board and electricity department are creating hindrance in finalization of the project.
Kamal Sharma, former BJP President and Executive Member, National BJP Committee, who in fact initiated the project, was here in Ferozepur also expressed his concern over the dilly-dallying attitude of the railways. He said, such a long delay is not tolerable and the matter will be reported to the higher authorities.
He too talked to the local railway officials but could not get the convincing statements for the long delay.
Ashwani Grover, Municipal Council said, it is very unfortunate on the part of railways that two years have passed when the entire amount was paid in advance but the RUB work has not yet started. He said, a show cause notice will be issued to the railways and in the event of unsatisfactory reply, legal action will be initiated.
