Various mishaps of two-wheelers are reported every year. The Chinese string does not break easily, sometime resulting in mishaps.
As the kite flying season has just begun, the administration has taken steps to curtail the use of Chinese thread. NGOs and government departments have been running a parallel campaign for years to frighten the use of the plastic thread. Apart from individuals, the plastic thread is also dangerous for the birds as they often get entangled in it while flying.
Under the order passed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Tayyab, the storage, sale and use of plastic strings has been prohibited. SDM Nayan Bhullar said that people should show more concern towards environment. The orders would remain in place after the festival as well and strict action would be taken against all defaulters.
