Fatehgarh Sahib, February 21, 2018: Two MBA students of Punjab Institute of Management and Technology Mandi Gobindgarh belonging to J & K have lodged complaint against the institute management with police allegedly for forcibly charging hostel, mess charges worth Rs.26000/- as they did not stay in hostel and shunting them out from hostel.
Akib and Adnan MBA students from Anantnag in their complaint to police mentioned that they belong to poor families and in December they fell ill and went back to J&K as they came to institute the college management demanded Rs.26000/- from them for hostel and mess charges. They refused to pay mentioning that they never stayed in hostel but instead of sorting out their genuine problem, the college management shunted them out permanently from hostel alleging they indulged in indiscipline. They said they are now staying in rented room at Mandi Gobindgarh and it is very difficult for them to pay such heavy rent. They said their parents also take up the matter with management but of no use. They said their future is at stake and they don't have money, so justice should be done.
When contacted Dr. Manisha Gupta Director, she refuted all the allegation. She said they are demanding tuition fee only. She said both the students created indiscipline and misbehaved with warden, so they have been expelled from hostel.
