Nawanshahr, February 23, 2018: Taking serious note of the imbalance in staff in Government Schools in the district, Deputy Commissioner, Amit Kumar, today, took up the issue with the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar. The Education Secretary assured him that the rationalisation of the staff would be done in the district so that the surplus teachers could be deputed in the schools facing staff scarcity.
It is wothwhile to mention here that the Deputy Commissioner has been taking pains to ensure qualitative improvement in the school education. He has been conducting surprise visits of the schools to have first hand information about the factual position at the cutting edge level. Few days ago, during the surprise visits, he was apprised of the problem of scarcity of staff in the rural schools. Today, during his visit to Government High school, Snawa, the DC remained surprised to know that there were only 10 teachers in the school whereas the strength of students was just 53. He immediately apprised the Educational Secretary, Krishan Kumar, of the problem over telephone.
The DC also conducted surprise visit to Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Langroya. He found some deficiencies in the Mid Day Meal. He directed the concerned officials to strictly follow the menu and the quality measures of the Mid Day Meal scheme in the schools.
Deputy Commissioner interacted with the students and asked them questions related to their syllabus in different classes.
